When was the last time boxing had a PPV as good as last night, every fight was evenly matched and top quality action.
The days of MMA dry humping each other for 15mins is long gone, the fight is back and forth. The talent pool is now there and it shows in the fights and the deep divisions.
I’m a long time boxing fan, but I’m sick of how boxing is ran, It has to fail so it can be saved.
More straw than a ****ing barn.
Not sure how there's straw when I wasn't even making an argument. You like UFC, and many people here like Boxing. It is what it is, only insecure people care so much whether what they enjoy is enjoyed by those around them.
Your analysis is very much appreciated, sir. Your UFC is now the most popular sport in the world and the fighters you idolize are the WORLD'S BADDEST MOTHERFERS that would beat up anyone's dad in a hand to hand fight on the streeeetzZZZZZzzZZ.
Conor is the new Ali. Masvidal is the new Dennis Rodman. Khabib is the new MJ. These idiots who watch two men stand there and punch each other are just peasants who can't see the appeal of two men wrestling on the ground for 25 mins, their loss! I mean, after all, they don't even watch the best fight the best, like ever! That's all I watch, but it better not be over 3 minutes, because I get bored if a fight is longer than 3 minutes.
More straw than a ****ing barn.
It should be pretty self explanatory surely? the UFC overtook boxing like many predicted it would (a claim that many boxing fans scoffed at over the years). Its likely a one way momentum shift too, and if thats the case theres signficant long term ramifications.

The WWE sells a lot of pay per views too. What's your point?

Don’t expect another reply r-tard your ass is going on ignore.
Feel free to waste your own time typing one out though. :lol1:
Lol.
This dude is still going to be using stuff like "SRL/Hagler doe" and "but the rumble in the jungle" as an argument in like 2050.
Good convo, have a nice day.
The WWE sells a lot of pay per views too. What's your point?
Their Wrestlers also win UFC titles within 4 fights. :lol1:
Must be some real serious depth in that organisation. :lol1:
From that same page
"The earliest form of pay-per-view was closed-circuit television, also known as theatre television, where professional boxing telecasts were broadcast live to a select a number of venues, mostly theaters, where viewers paid for tickets to watch the fight live"
LOL how the **** is that the same as PPV?
On that same page it lists SRL/Hagler as doing 150k buys on actual PPV. Bit of a discrepancy no?
Regardless, it was in 1987 for ****s sake, we are in 2020. I suspect you're so eager to cling to the past because you know the present and the future isnt looking so good.
You’re paying to watch the the fight, that’s literally what PPV means you imbecile. In 1987 things were nowhere near as accessible, put that same fight on today it probably does 6 million.
MMA still hasn’t surpassed a boxing fight that happened over 30 years ago!
Look across this entire thread, not one person is agreeing with your nonsense, we’re all laughing at you. :lol1:
I’m sick of going back and forth with your delusional ass so I’m just gonna leave it at this:
The BIGGEST star in the history of MMA had his BIGGEST fight inside a BOXING RING.
The BIGGEST fight featuring an MMA fighter in the entire history of MMA was inside a BOXING RING.
I think that says everything about which is the bigger the sport. :lol1:
SRL-Hagler did over 3m buys you lunatic... :lol1:
You do realise closed circuit is still classed as PPV don’t you? :lol1:

Stop embarrassing yourself son... :lol1:

You seem to have some warped view of boxing back in the day. You do realize PPV wasnt really the established norm until the 90s, right? SRL, Hagler et al were doing in the low 100ks for their fights. Btw if you look at the numbers 90s Tyson and 2010s Conor are actually very comparable as PPV draws, almost identical in fact, not even including Conor/Floyd.
And yes, you're right, the UFC probably never will come close to 4m, but boxing probably never will again either, it is an anomaly that involved a now retired 43 year old fighter who was factually the biggest PPV draw in combat sports history.
All this talk about **** from the 80s and 90s though...we're in 2020. You and I both know the situation will probably never go back to what it was.
Boxing is never going to die, but this past decade has been the point where the UFC has arguably surpassed boxing in popularity, so the projections had some truth to them.

Since Floyd-Pac which did over 4m. A number UFC will never come close too. :lol1:
UFC is decades behind boxing, 80’s guys where making more money than current UFC fighters. UFC still hasn’t caught up to the numbers boxing set over 3 DECADES AGO. :lol1:

A decade ago boxing was going to be dead because MMA is so, so, great. Not happened yet.

This is a very tired discussion now. Sure, UFC has better organisation and cards and this and that and blablabla, but none of it actually matters if you don't find the sport itself entertaining to watch.
Funny how these guys who never post **** come alive for MMA cards.
Did y'all miss Teo vs Loma or not give a ****? That was a great night of free fights and it just happened.
I don't suspect y'all are boxing fans. I don't know why MMA brats come here to talk their MMA nonsense, but they always have, and I am sure this is just the new form of the same old ****.
A decade ago boxing was going to be dead because MMA is so, so, great. Not happened yet.
Now it's "I is boxing fan too :dunce: so my opinion should matter now". Dude, you're not a ****ing boxing fan.
True... :lol1: :lol1:
I’d green you man but I think I’ve done it too recently.
You're clinging to the distant past rather expectedly.
Heres a sample of the top drawing PPVs in the 5 years since Floyd/Pac...

You also failed to include May-Conor a BOXING PPV which also broke 4m.

I have seen a long list of British Boxing pay per views, that was doing those sort of numbers i.e close to 1 million etc
They're sold for the equivalent of like $25 over there and are pretty much all exclusively on PPV in that one boxing crazed market. UFC ppvs cost $65. 1m buys in the UK is the equivalent of slightly under 400k US buys in terms of revenue. Thats why AJs drawing power gets grossly overstated.

But anyway, I don't usually get off on the numbers game 'Some boxing/ufc people seem to get really excited by statistics'.
Highest grossing PPV’s of all time. Every single one of them is boxing. UFC still haven’t topped the numbers Mike did in the 90’s, they haven’t even topped the numbers Ray and Hagler did in the 80’s. That’s how far behind they are...

imagine a ufc fighter at age 33 like terrance crawford and never had a big fight? mayweather ruined boxing with his fictitious 0 bull***** and it has carried into this generation.
Exactly... some of our ‘champs’ haven’t fought anyone, the heavyweight champ of 40 odd fights has only fought 3 live bodies, and he lost and drew 2 of those.
That simply would never be able to happen, the same with Tank, people getting excited about him fighting a small boxer who isn’t a big puncher?
