I ran out of space in the title.
What prime or near prime heavyweight over the last 30 years could John Ruiz beat? There was a reason why James Toney and Roy Jones when moving up to heavyweight took on John Ruiz.
Ruiz punched like super middleweight, didn't have much of an offense, but had good stamina.
I can't think of a fighter of a top contender at the heavyweight dvision that Ruiz could beat other then maybe Michael Spinks
I miss those days when David Haye was Undisputed at Cruiserweight and there were threads on BoxingScene saying he would decapitate both Klitschko bros.
Haye had so many people fooled man, he’s one hell of a salesman. :lol1:
Yeah Ruiz was a decent fighter not the smoothest guy to watch but he was a effective and hard to beat.
I’m a British guy myself, but Haye’s HW run is possibly the most fraudulent run I’ve ever seen. Valuev, a semi retired John Ruiz, Audley Harrison and then he ran away from Klitschko for 12 rounds and blamed it on his little toe. :lol1:
Yes that toe. People were referring to "Toegate". He had an arranged tactic that every time Klitschko brought him into a clinch, or put weight on him, he's collapse and let it seem that he was pushed to the canvas. Even the ref got tired of it after a few. He looked like a Track and Field practitioner. If you watch that Ruiz-Haye fight, you'll be just as disgusted as I.

I agree with you. His hit and clinch was never illegal. Begore he ran into David Tua, Ruiz was a very good boxer, gave and took punches all the time a good fighter to watch. Even when he changed his style, I still found him good to watch, because he often faught guys much taller, heavier and with longer reach, but still managed to nullify them. He was a champion for a long time, and deserves respect. He was stopped only twice, Tua, and his last fight against Haye at age 38, old going to retire and very flabby.. although brave as ever.
Haye's disgusting fouling should have had him banned for life. He turned Ruiz around and bent over the ropes in the first rd. and clubbed him right on the back of his neck. He KD'd Ruiz a few times with blatant, deliberate aimed, rabbit punches, with Ruiz rubbing the back of his head, yet the ref gave the KD and didn't DQ Haye. It was so obscene and hard to watch.
And the British lapped it up and were in ecstasy as though Haye had beaten Joe Louis.

A prime Ruiz would be a nightmare for AJ IMO. Not saying he’d win but he’d be a tough matchup for him stylistically.
Ruiz was a lot better than you’re giving him credit for.
Put some respect on Michael Spinks name too. He’s a legit ATG.

Holyfield was a punching bag when Ruiz fought him, You can't really believe that the Holyfield who fought Foreman, Holmes, Tyson etc would give Ruiz a lopsided beating.
Of course he was. He was shot to shit.
I’m just saying, you have a whole load of idiots trying to claim Toney beating Holyfield’s corpse as some kind of big win. John Ruiz did it years earlier and he’s garbage.
He’d probably beat the legendary Bermaine Stiverne, possibly beat Charles “I walk this earth like a god” Martin, and the superhuman known as David price
Well he beat Evander Holyfield before James Toney did and plenty of retards try and say that was some kind of top win for Toney :dunno:
