They were different boxers, with different styles and different career paths. There are fighters who had longer amateur careers than Floyd and fighters who had shorter amateur careers. The fact remain though. It's a fact that Loma won those amateur titles, won a professional title with the least number of pro bouts, won titles in multiple divisions etc. just like it's also a fact that Floyd won titles in multiple divisions, retired undefeated etc.

A lot of experience is gained at the amateur level, but there’s a reason fighters build up to 12 rounds and gradually step up competition over several fights.

I believe that’s a big reason fighters who have come from the WSB progress quickly in the pro ranks, because they already fought at a decent standard in the WSB
