After this loss, is Loma going to now display a level we have not seen from him yet?
A loss like this can actually make him a greater fighter.
I wanted Lopez to win but didn’t think he could. Like I’ve said in previous posts, I think Lopez winning is better for the popularity of the sport and even more, as an example to the young guys to just go for the big names sooner than later.
But Loma now has a target on his back and will be in the fight of his life at every weight class.
Will he level up and let the world know who he is?
I never make threads. I just ask that we keep it positive. Thanks.

Whatever he does, Davis still wont fight him lol
That's not the reason he lost, let's be honest. He lost because he waited too long to start throwing. He was obviously expecting a different Lopez and Lopez did what he had to do to win
I don't think so. He knew what kind of guy Lopez was. Never let it be said that Lomachenko ever went into a fight not prepared fully. He didn't throw, because he was having left shoulder problems, and thought he might do enough to win a rd or two in the first half. When he saw he was losing badly he got going through the pain, there had to have been much pain, and arguably won 5 rds in the second half. We KNOW for sure that he's had problems requiring surgery on that shoulder since the Linares fight at least.
I gave him 5 of the last 6, as did many boxers, guys like Bud Crawford for instance. Lopez was NOT dominant, he was just throwing more because he had no arm or shoulder problems, so was winning rounds, like Willie Pep reputed to have won a rd without throwing any punches. I saw that fight, and that rd, and he threw 3 punches, one only was a bare touch, but it won him the rd.
Anyway, all we have are opinions. and can amicably differ and come back again another time to discuss other fights..
I like Lomachenko and am not changing my mind about him cause he lost.
But I think he and Wilder are essentially in the same boat. Both got beat at their own game and will likely never be the same, and yet that can’t cancel out the titles and accomplishments they’ve achieved in the past. Both may even have a bit left in the tank for a few moments of future glory. But let’s be honest here, they’re both in their mid thirties and not everyone is Foreman or Hopkins.
Damn Wilder and Loma in the same boat? Hell you might have a point there lol. Both have to show up big the next time they enter that ring. If they are going to live up to the “ATG” label....well they have to do what the Ali’s and other greats did. Come back strong.

We'll see. Buncha internet slobs acting like he's trash now. I don't remember these guys being so vocal till after the loss.
I mean I’ll be honest I was never a fan once he hit 135 because I held him to the standards of other fighters who were heralded as p4p#1.
And the Lopez fight for me sort of gave me what I wanted as far as a challenge and he didn’t show up.
I want what people call the number one guy to be able to make adjustments and show different wrinkles in his game...just like every other fighter. Maybe now we will see a different Loma.

Lopez winning is great for the sport. IF Loma gets a rematch which is likely, he needs to start early. Giving up 5 rounds by default was just mind blowing.
I really haven't been around much at all lately, I like only pop in a few times a year after some fight, but damn I'm really kinda stunned at the sheer vitriol against Lomachenko. I had no idea he was disliked by this many people on this board. Is it his fan base? Is it him? The reason so many people here hate him? Loma seems like a stand up guy to me and he has shown that he's willing to fight anybody, so I don't really understand the pure hate. Lol it's like people are celebrating the death of Osama Bin Laden or something (him losing the other night).
Anyway to answer the thread question -- he's still an elite level fighter despite some of the ridiculous things that are being said around here, so it wouldn't surprise me. That said I don't know if he's that type of fighter, you know? Like someone mentioned he's not the sort of boxer that's going to go on some spectacular KO streak. He's a pure technician. And he'll be 33 the next time he enters the ring. Idk, man. He probably has a handful of years left of his prime if he's lucky so he would need to get started ASAP, and he'd have to get on a run of convincingly beating a lot of top shelf opponents. And fortunately for him, there's a lot of top shelf opponents out there for him.
Problem is the way he looked the other night beating any one of them would be a tall task (not that he couldn't beat these guys but it certainly looks much tougher now than it did a few weeks ago)
Case closed......

I feel you. I don’t post really and I’ve been here for over 14yrs.
With that said, I’m not going to say I hate Loma. I respect him and his amateur, and even, earlier pro accomplishments. But as time passed, I just felt like it was time for the sport to have someone to bring back that social element. I’m a fan of boxing first and foremost. And so I see the sport the lens of what’s best to grow the sport.
When I look at fighters like Spence, Tank, a host of Mexican fighters, and even Fury. They bring in casuals. Casuals are the lifeline to the sport. It’s what inspires the young kids to want to box.
Loma to me inspired a generation of Eastern European kids but this is America.
What Teo did the other night just turned the heat up way more than anything Loma has been able to do for the sport as a whole.
If Loma retired tonight the man that got me into boxing wouldn’t even know his name.
You’re right. Historically the smaller guys don’t have that long lasting peak like we see with some of the higher weight classes.
You know, this whole Loma thing is kinda reminiscent of Roman Gonzalez. To me anyway.
Chocolatito had that run for a little while when he was considered a #1 P4P candidate and then it all came shockingly crashing down vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Granted Lopez's upset of Loma wasn't nearly as big as Gonzalez losing back to back fights vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai...but still.
And both Loma and Gonzalez were little guys who finally reached a point when it came to moving up in weight where they looked very, very vulnerable. With both guys you could even see signs of it in the fights leading up to their losses.

I personally have no problem with nomaschenko, it’s his dumbazz fan base that I love to annihilate. The same with wilder. Wilder is cool, but his die hard fan base are a bunch of idiots.
Nobody at those lower weights gets better at 32. Historically, most are fading by then
We’ve seen the best of Loma. He won’t get any better. He will either plateau or fade.
He’s Howard Davis. It’s over for him. He will continue to look good against C level opposition but guys like Haney, Lopez and tank fux him up.
People hating so much they disregarding who the guy is and what he really made of...

I mean, what else can he really do? Teofimo was the better fighter and he won fair. Loma can rewatch the fight and maybe correct a few mistakes he thinks he made and that's about it. I don't think Loma is going to go on some amazing KO streak just because he lost to a good fighter. Sometimes it just happens and you just need to move on and fix what went wrong.
He did fix what went wrong. Haven't you been keeping up with the news. His surgeon fixed it, which is what I mean.

Thanks for answering the question like an adult. I happen to agree with you. I think there are a few things to consider in addition to his boxing mileage.
I was listening to Robert Garcia and he pretty much said the Lomas camp needs to have Loma train like a fighter instead of all that “juggling ****.” He even suggested that he has sparring partners that come in to just get beat up instead of helping Loma develop further.
Yeah I understand juggling and it pertaining to hand eye coordination but that can only take you so far. Sparring partners are key in a training camp especially if you replicate your opponent. As far as the answering like an adult a few people on her will do that but some are beyond knowing what an adult is Lol
