Wasn’t Jorge Linares’ best win against Luke Campbell and Anthony Crolla who are common opponents with Loma? Wasn’t Linares stopped early by a nobody in a TV Azteca card? This was following his loss to Antonio Demarco who Adrien Broner destroyed. Why is this even heavily considered a big win for Loma?
Loma’s best wins are against Walters and Gary Russel Jr. at the lighter weights. After really dissecting Loma’s resume, it’s good, but it’s not great. I’m measuring his resume at lightweight (not anything before) compared to Teofimo and it’s not that much better.
Imagine Lopez landing his “lucky” punches on Linares?? Linares wouldn’t last 3 rounds with that chin.
Linares decent fighter but his chin is worse than Clifford Etienne
Exactly. Loma isn't Floyd and Lopez really isn't there to learn **** from Loma. His gameplan is to impose himself, not to admire Loma's boxing skills.
Thats definitely the salido blueprint.
I doubt lopez can implement it tho

I expect loma to win. Not because i think his skills are amazing. I just dont think lopez is that good
Your logic makes no sense
If loma is number 1 p4p. It wouldnt be embarrasing losing to him at all.
That would be like losing to floyd right?

Doesn’t matter. He avoided Linares after all the talk and more importantly avoided Loma. Mikey moving up to 147 for Spence was a way to save face. Lose to Spence and everyone expected it, Mikey doesn’t lose any ground in the rankings. Lose to Loma and he is embarrassed and slides in the rankings. Harder to recover from a Loma loss from a career ladder perspective.

In my opinion, Lipinets would stop linares just like 4 others did.
Almost doesnt count in anything but horseshoes for the record.
And dont forget corn hole too!

If I remember correctly linares didnt want the fight after a few tries at negotiations.
He wanted more money
Mikey fought a better fighter than linares for more money.

Linares was #1 and lineal lightweight champ who Mikey Garcia moved up to 140 instead of fighting. Hadn’t lost a fight in eight years and was way ahead of DeMarco before losing off of a cut.
And you’re saying their 135 resumes are equal?? Aside from Commey, teo’s fought club fighters and curtain jerkers.
Linares was never lineal champion. He is not recognized as such by CBZ or TBRB and nobody presently recognizes Lomachenko as lineal champion. He's a unified and Ring champion, but he's not lineal.
It was still a fantastic win for Lomachenko, no question about it, but people keep throwing the lineal claim out there and it simply isn't true. The lineal lightweight title has been vacant since Crawford moved up to 140 in 2015.
Yeah, probably. Lipinets is a lot bigger and Linares showed us 140 ain't for him. Imo Lipinets beats Linares but Linares is still the better fighter.
I can't believe Jorge lost to some of the people he did.
Linares has an unreliable chin. Too bad for that, like Jhonny Garcia, good fighters but that chin...
Ok, I understand that Linares was #1 at lightweight for a period of time, but his best wins are Crolla and Campbell. I don’t see how Crolla’s name holds any weight, but beating Campbell isn’t necessarily a big deal as well....
All you can do in boxing is fight the best available guys and thats exactly what Lomachenko has done.
If Lomachenko had fought Gamboa just because he was a big name would it have made it any better? No.
Lomachenko is only interested in fighting champions and fighting the best at his weight category.
I dont get why people criticize that point so much. Maybe Lomachenko should have done it the hip way and demanded people fight at the weight he wants. Wearing the gloves he wants. Where he wants.
Maybe he should make excuses to avoid fights he doesn't want because their could be adversity. Maybe he should jump around weights so he doesnt have to fight the best and make a name off of older bigger names.
What do you people want?
And if we’re going to base Loma’s greatness at lightweight on Linares, then shouldn’t we all agree that Broner was superior at lightweight than Loma? You know, since he destroyed the man that stopped Loma’s best win in the division?
No, because triangle theories are ****ing ******ed, and Broner is significantly larger than Lomachenko.

Cuts. His stoppage losses prior to Loma were due to cuts.
