If Lomachenko loses on Saturday, how will it affect his legacy?
I don't think it'll affect it too badly. He's still accomplished more in 15-16 fights than most fighters do in their whole careers. He's tied for fewest number of fights to win a world title, and holds the record for fewest number of fights to become a 3 weight world champion.
Yes. I made this account in 2013, but I've been posting here for about 13 years. I used to post at the 13th round.com but there wasn't much activity there, and before that I was on the ESPN forums.
Just because you don't like the way I troll (is there really any point in having a serious discussion here, now?), it doesn't mean I haven't been following the sport for awhile.
Apologies, was using "literary licence" because it sounded good, even if, from your post, which I accept, it was not exactly a fact. I prefer to exchange in mutual discussions ,not wars, as life is too short for all that stuff.
The April thing was just too good not to use, but as you know I could have no real idea as to the actual day you signed on. .
What about the post just above that. They guy joined in April 2013. I suspect it was April 1st, also the worst year in boxing history for absorbing boxing "knowledge". When a guy sees things than absolutely no one else in the world saw, in a fight, One wonders.
Which reminds me of the very old song. beginning........
"Oh I wonder yes I wonder, do the angels way up yonder, do the angels play their harps all day".
Being purely musicians, they didn't know anything about boxing either.

if he loses he loses, it's not like he is protecting his 0, which is top priority for a lot of guys & u don't have to look far to see who!!
i hope that if teo does pull it out somehow that he get's the decision if it does go that far, i presume that loma is the a-side in this one
In boxing and especially on this forum, you are only as good as your last fight. If Loma loses, everyone will call him overhyped, overrated and a bum now.
It goes from calling him a style we've never seen before in boxing to a bum. Only in boxing.
Loma's already proven. His accomplishments are set. If he lost to Lopez, before I call him already spent or done, I would like to see him in 1 more match after and then gauge how much he has left. Too many write off someone off their last loss. They should get a follow-up fight before you can truly assess how much they have left.
If either guy loses, it will be the same as it has been for every big fight here on Boxing scene. It will depend on who is hated more as to which fighter will get credit given and credit taken. Nothing will change. The loser and in some cases the winner will get dragged through the mud.
I don't think so. Fans and haters will just forget about him. Where would he go from there? That's why I say this is a must win for both fighters, more so for Loma. If Lopez loses, most will say he was a hybejob, too.
- -99.9% of Americans would rather watch two boards glued together than boxing.
U a Heebiejob too?
Good point. All of this and more will be said when Loma loses.
not really. if loma loses he lost to the better fighter and he still had a great career which still isnt over. if tank loses to a bum like santa cruz then we can all laugh cause thats a cherry pick gone wrong. when you dont fight a top 10 guy for 4 years you know something is going on! protection mode in full force! operation protect the midget so we can suck as much money out of the idiots as possible in effect!
Most of the publicity about Lomachenko centres around having won 3 different weight division titles in the fewest fights in history. But he also won the first 2 weight classes in the fewest fights in history. Nobody ever mentions that.
I love coming back to these threads after the fight. Guaranteed 90% of the posters will be nowhere to be found. Most of them just pop in before these types of fights and try to get guys riled up.
A week from today I'll be back...
Sugar Ray Robinson had 19 losses.
You evidently DKSAB. :lol1:
Another troll for the ignore list...
I totally agree with you about the "troll" comment.
Robinson was 40 in 1961 when he had his 8th loss in about 150 fights, -against Fullmer. This was his last title shot. The fight before that was a split draw ,also against Fullmer. Most of the ringside reporters and boxing observers scored it 11-4 for Robinson. He'd already lost 2 splits to Paul Pender in Pender's home town, "dicey" decisions. The corrupt "powers that be" wanted Robinson out of the Championship picture, he caused them massive amounts of trouble, being VERY difficult to deal with. They decided this, after his return fight with Basilio was nearly cancelled at the last moment a week before the fight after a huge publicity campaign for the fight... He reneged on the agreed money, demanded -and got- $500,000. Basilio stormed out of the meeting, cursing like a trooper that he would NEVER fight Robinson again. But he did...and lost. But Robinson was still a big draw.
Yes Robinson had 19 losses, and I know you mention them only to show that a fighter can have losses and still be a great, in Robinson's case the greatest of all time.
The guy only lost his second fight (his 133rd fight) after a straight run of over 90 wins, 200, with 108 KOs.
As we all know, (except some who don't know much about boxing) the majority of those losses came when he was well past the used up age for fighters in those days.
Lomachenko's loss to Salido was caused by the 18 or 20 low blows that Salido was not DQd for., a dozen times over. Not to mention his butting, holding and hitting, and more. Several reputable reports showed that Salido weighed 147 before the fight.
Laurence Cole the "referee"... got far more condemnations from Boxing authorities that I have ever seen or heard before. About 20 times more than the infamous judge C.J. Ross.
If he loses in a competitive fight he is still a high caliber fighter.
Only here when a fighter loses they get labeled as a bum, exposed, was never good in the first place, was carefully matched, etc.
Most good fighters eventually loose when they go up in weight and face top fighters

Nothing changes. The people who hate him will laugh and hate him more. The people who like him will still respect all that he has accomplished in boxing. Marciano retired at 31, Loma has already accomplished way more by that age and still has a ways to go.
I don't think so. Fans and haters will just forget about him. Where would he go from there? That's why I say this is a must win for both fighters, more so for Loma. If Lopez loses, most will say he was a hybejob, too.
It will take a hit.
The first thing is about how the loss happens. If Lopez simply beats him up, then it is worse for Loma's legacy. If Lopez wins because he sneaks in a dirty headbutt which the ref ignores, opens a cut on Loma and Loma has to retire...
It also takes time to really gauge the impact of that kind of thing. If Lopez wins, then goes on to become P4P #1 and reigns for 10 years, then the loss doesn't look as bad. If Lopez wins, then gets stopped by Haney in his next fight, then Loma's loss would look worse.
I think that the basis of Loma's legacy has already been laid down. He already has some solid accomplishments, and a couple of firsts to his name. He's a lock for first ballot HoF. The next question for him is where he sits amongst the ATGs. If he gets beat up by Lopez, that question is affected in the negative.
Yup boxing politics run deep ..
Yes it is how he loses.
Lomachenko is extremely impressive, but wow? Some people have gotten carried away with his ability.
I have watched Lomachenko 'Voluntarily duck into punches, with his guard up' that was his defense vs Luke Campbell. I have zero idea how such a fighter can be deemed technically superior to Floyd Mayweather 'When he was choosing to duck into punches'.
People in the sport have been effected by the universal stereotype 'That Eastern European fighters are technically more advanced than all other fighters'. Some people within boxing have accepted this as a Law 'It is the hundredth Monkey effect, playing out below in this interview'.
:lol1:These two dudes are idiots. Thanks for sharing.
I wouldn't be surprised if Loma dominates Teofimo

If he gets slept early, which I think will happen in the early rounds. His legacy will take a hit.
