I'm not saying cowardice. I just think he wants more money and he's not going to get it.
Mind you, would you blame him if he didn't fancy going straight back in against Fury? Even that's not cowardice, it's just about building him back up both as a fighter and as a draw to the public.
I usually raise an eyebrow at those who don't go for an immediate rematch if it's available. Being how the 1st rematch was a wipeout, a 3rd fight should not be a must. From Fury's POV.
Delaying it for another few months (if the rumor is true) is no big deal to the fighters. Us fans might be pissed.
I'm just saying no one, especially Wilder, is backing out due to cowardice, which is how I'm taking the flow of convo.

And again, COVID only makes it less rewarding, it doesn't stop it happening.
If you want to fight, then fight. You'll earn millions. Even if it's millions less than you would have earned if COVID didn't happen.
Alternatively don't fight and earn FA.

Again, no one is backing out except the promoters.
Wilder enforced it but due to COVID, the time has expired. No COVID and the fight would have happened already.

He didn’t really confirm anything from what I heard from him last night. It’s like everything is a secret, like the two way rematch which none of them confirmed or denied for months before the second fight.
All am going to say is this, there is NO way a rematch clause wouldn’t have an expiry date. Am sure that fight had to happen within 12 months barring injuries etc.
So unless they have worked out another deal due to covid, then I truly believe there is a bit of truth to an expired date for this third fight.
Maybe they need to start speaking to foreign countries, and explain to Wilder the need to get his passport ready. Am sure they (PBC especially) would be hoping that’s the Tank and Spence fights get the live gate approval and makes them money. Then it would mean the Fury fight can have live gate, which means Wilder wouldn’t have to use his passport.
I still believe that fight will happen early in 2021. It is a huge money fight for both guys.
I think this is part of the issue, both want X amount and they won’t be able to get the live gate. In addition the ppv buys from the second fight were significantly less than they wanted in both the UK and USA which coupled with covid reduces the expectation within a third fight - which in the view of many (not me I will add) is now a foregone conclusions
Both fighters would need to take significant paycuts.
I can see why both dont want to because:
1) Fury can see Joshua round the corner, wilder remains a risk however people want to say it - and a risk he doesn’t fight AJ as a result. Joshu fury would be undisputed and with Joshua’s following would be a considerably bigger $$$ payout - certainly not less than what he got last time.
2) wilder can’t be sure he can win and this could be a last payout if he loses again but holding out he will be able to take on a few fighters he should beat - Whyte being one of them where he could get good money. After a couple fights of good earnings he should still be able to fight AJ for good money , possibly even a undisputed - and that would be worth more than he got for the fury fights. Alternatively he could rematch fury then but if fury has undisputed then and wilder has just beaten - let’s suggest Whyte & Ruiz - his stock has come back up; hopefully covid gone away or impact reduced - and the $$$ on the line a re big again.
Nobody will want to be walking away from it but it’s almost better for both
This is the first time frank hasn’t been very defensive and clear the fight is expected to happen. Although he wasn’t explicit it very much sounds an unlikely scenario that fury wilder will happen.
Let’s hope fury doesn’t revert to bums and takes on a top10 fringe opponent at least.
If Joshua fury can happen next year then I’m sure wilder will get his chance at Joshua at some point in 2022
Sanctioning bodies need to get involved and start stripping titles then.
Under normal circumstances they should. These are not normal times.
Both guys are ready to fight each other.
Fair enough if that's what both want. But I don't think Fury would even want the fight. Why would he when he has a choice of either easier fights or bigger fights?
Wilder has the choice here doesn't he? Contract says he can enforce a rematch. It's there if he wants it.
Again, no one is backing out except the promoters.

Obviously fights can happen. Come on
I've read either Arum or another promoter said they will wait where conditions are best for getting both guys the money they deserve.
No one is avoiding anything

Or he can fight for a relative pittance for no championship.
Enforce a rematch clause and then hold out for more money?
It's a bit unusual isn't it?
COVID hasn't stopped fights happening. It's stopped live gates. Fights can happen if people accept that about 95% of people in the world have had their income affected in some way... and boxing should be no different.

There is no reason for a guy to enforce a clause only to duck it. I read where they want it where both guys can earn the most money. It has nothing to do with one guy backing out.

Obviously we haven't seen the exact wording in the contract but it seems like it's Wilder's call. If Wilder wants it, Fury has to have it or break contract.
I saw pressure gets to Fury if you don’t let him plan the moves ahead .
I also picked Wallin to defeat him because of that and said he’d win on a cut that the Fury loyalty want to discredit. Now Wallin was a southpaw with a 6”5 frame but let’s look at AJ.
He’s going to bring that pressure,he’s going to nail Fury if he turns south paw because of the counter right ,he’s going to not be man handled on the inside and if Fury tries it , it’s lights out .
This leaves one option, Fury better hope AJ freezes with long range faints , I don’t see it . AJ will work the body and top targets . I have Fury defeating many past time greats but if we look at this one a pressure counter puncher standing 6”6 is Furys roadblock.
Pretty detailed. I may have to go back and watch some footage but I haven't seen much to indicate AJ can really put that much pressure on a man furys size and length.
I like how solid he is in exchanges and as a boxer puncher.
But like I said I would love to see it. Certain guys just have other dudes numbers.. and despite Joshua's critics I think hes proved a lot in his bigger fights.
