WBN spoke exclusively to Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel on Monday evening to get assurances regarding a future encounter with Tyson Fury. Speculation, as always, has been rife in the United Kingdom surrounding whether Wilder will negate on a trilogy following defeat last February. The reverse, a first in 44 bouts for the American, will be the catalyst for Wilder’s return to action. Finkel assured WBN that Wilder is fine. He’s healthy and ready to fight as a calendar mark of December 19 remains possible. Asked about rumors Wilder was hurt in sparring before his rematch stoppage to Fury, Finkel was clearly fed up with the British media’s attempts to smear the ex-WBC champ.
“Deontay banged his arm in training, it was nothing,” Finkel exclusively told World Boxing News. “Who is this guy (Junior) Fa? “When the time is right we will give more information on the third fight.”
He continued by stating WBN would be the first to know when an official announcement comes.
“We will be making an announcement in the next two weeks. When we are ready we will let you know. But Deontay is focused on the third fight. Most of what is being written now is not worth a response. Deontay wants revenge in the rematch,” he added.
WBN understands a rumored date before the end of the year can still happen despite the current saga regarding the pandemic.
Sounds like they're planning on taking the third fight... kinda?
Fury is going to ruin Wilder mentally and physically after he gets another stoppage win. Wont be surprised if Wilder retires.
- -Deyonce was hatched in a ruined for life state.
The smoke and mirrors now lay busted up in a corner along side his costume and self esteem.
Chris Mannix said the hold up is that financially the fight is not possible without a gate; Haymon and Arum lost a ton of money on the second fight even with the gate. Without it, Wilder and Fury would have to fight each other for peanuts and neither side is interested in doing that.
Than let guys take tune ups during pandemic.
For example: Fury -Helenius, Wilder -Martin
of course the 3rd fight is happening
Arum explained WTF happened but of course people ignore the truth to push their own narrative but yes all are contractually obligated for that 3rd fight so it has to happen and no I don't think Wilder walks away from it. At the very least even if you do lose to Fury again, he will walk away a Richer man with another Good Payday
That's why the fight has been up in the air with COVID: they were both guaranteed 25 million dollars last time out, and those purses resulted in Haymon and Arum losing a ton of money on the fight.
Both guys and both promoters want to make the fight, but at what price? They're not making 25mil again even with fans, without fans much less. If Wilder is offered 10mil for the rematch, will he take it knowing it might be another loss? Or would he take a big amount of step-aside money, make a few million to fight a tune-up, and let AJ-Fury proceed if he's promised the winner?
From where I'm sitting he has everything to gain by letting AJ-Fury happen.
I heard it was going to be in Feb.? But cool with it in Dec.
I hope it's in December so that Fury can fight again by around February, whether its AJ, Povetkin, or Briggs.
Furys not giving him a third fight, Wilder is activating his rematch clause that was in the contract .
Fury would rather fight AJ but Wilders ego will be his own downfall. The smartest thing to do was fight the AJ and Fury winner for all the belts but Wilder isn’t the brightest guy .
Wilder wouldn’t even give him one fight if he knew it was leading to this , he out played himself and Fury out played him feeding him false info that he wasn’t ready and team Wilder took the bait .
Fight the Fury/Joshua winner for all the belts? You are assuming that Hearn would have A.J sign a one fight deal to face Fury. Not in a million years. There would undoubtedly be a rematch clause and Wilder will be 35 in October. The only real option is a trilogy fight!
of course the 3rd fight is happening

I do not respect all the excuses from his FANS though especially guys on youtube with the Glove Stuff and now "Wilder Was Injured Going Into That Fight" GARBAGE! This ERA is full of Excuse to the point in which you have a man (Dillian Whyte) just a few weeks ago get his ass Knocked the F^ck Out but yet he is telling people that "I Wasn't Out I Got Up Immediately"
So yeah no Excuses, you lose you get back up and comeback stronger!
Would Wilder have given fury a third fight if he was the one that TKO’d him the second fight? For some reason I highly doubt it.
Fury should move on and go after AJ, he already beat Deyoncè twice.
I think they should give it one more bite at the apple. If the pandemic isn't over by December then just wait to fight in February with or without an audience.
You cannot hold up this fight forever. It needs to happen before things start to get back to normal. With or without an empty stadium.
