Well no, his first major title defence was against Rosado. That's taking opinion out of it
If we're taking quality of opposition into account, I'd start with Jacobs personally. Why start with Geale?
he was given the title before the geale fight.
i dont know why you are asking about facts.
Charr of course who is holding that BS Belt Hostage and don't want nobody else to have it and the WBA is allowing it despite his inactivity
Charr must have some very wealthy people behind him or something, kinda strange how he is allowed to do that for this long
i mean, defence means defence. on that we can agree the first is retiring geale.

Sure, but that's a different issue altogether
I don't think fighters should be elevated like that either but they currently are. Every single organisation other than the IBF abuses the interim system to achieve that

you mean he was given a title without throwing a punch.
but i think you mean he was given a title before throwing at punch at retiring Geale.

I don’t know man. Many forum members hate the WBA. For example, Keith and GGG had similar situations. Elevated or fighting for the Super. Like I said, GGG vs Geale was for the Super WBA. Keith was still the Regular from 2015-2017. Floyd was the last one with the Super. Keith got elevated before the DSG fight. Same year Floyd fought McGregor. I don’t know it’s weird. But fans don’t like “two Champions” liek the Smith or Fielding scenario where Canelo fought for the Fielding’s belt. I’ve said on the forum many times that I didn’t see the Fielding win as a legitimate Champ because Smith was there. I guess it’s the reason why Canelo has been wanting this fight but Lurch been holding out
Was Broner/Maidana a title fight? Was Maidana/Floyd a unification fight, or just for the WBC title? Was Haye WBA heavyweight champion? What about Khan vs Kotelnik/Salita/Malignaggi/Maidana/McCloskey?
If yes, Golovkin was WBA champion from 02/11/12
I think you have more of an issue with champions winning titles outside of the ring/vacant titles, than with the WBA system, according to your post. But that's an issue everywhere
10 or 12 defences?
Golovkin was considered the ‘regular’ champion up until Rosado, where we was the sole WBA champion, and then the Super WBA champion up until Canelo
Bit of a difference between 5 and 12, wouldn’t you say? NSB :lol1:

Are you sure? I see. The WBA still had the WBA Super vacant. GGG’s defenses on paper before the Geale fight was the Regular version. Look at BoxRec. GGG vs Geale was for the Super version. After that GGG’s fights list him defending the Super.
There is only a regular when there is a super champion. Otherwise there is only the sole WBA champion. The super spot isn’t ‘vacant’, at least not yet
If you don’t count sole WBA champions, you’re erasing a huge amount of champions...
Thurman/Porter was a non-title fight, David Haye was never Heavyweight champion etc
Danny Geale was the Super WBA if I recall. That’s when GGG took his Super strap from the Regular
Geale was stripped 2nd Nov 2012
That’s when you can start to count Golovkin’s title defences. I make that 15
I always think GGGs first 10 or 12 defenses and Manuel Charr.
Can we call it the Triple Gee slash Manuel Char belt?
