Good scrap once Abass found his rhymn a bit. First few rounds he was just way too cautious, like he was thinking guys at this level are just gonna give openings away, starting doing a bit better around round 4ish when he started trying to make things happen.
Last few rounds it just turned into a toe2toe, pretty much takling turns to unload on each other center ring... Abass held his own but it played to Culcay's grit and toughness more than to Abass' skill. Lack of experience thing like I say.
I think the kid's gonna make a decent mid-level contender... should probably snag at least a minor title at some point.
Maybe my expectations were set a little to high lol
Don’t like Culcay , that might of been a factor also
:lol1: I hear ya brother. I discovered over the years I ain't really very good at working for other people though... least not for long, and I'm a bit too relaxed to ever earn much working for myself. I figure so long as I can keep the wolves from the door I'm OK though.... never had much so I never learned to miss it.
I was once called 'rich in life' by Jrs headteacher which kinda amused me cos what I suspect he actually meant - best I can tell - is that my broke ass is usually smiling or laughing.
Best things in life really are free, man, wise words I think in a world ever more desperate to put a price tag on everything.:lol1:
Very true words brother Koba. Money is the root of all things for a reason
Heh, it would be great if life could REALLY be lived like this...
Vendetti - obviously - thoroughly outboxed, and Postol lost as expected. As someone famous once wrote...
"Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay"
...and I don't even have the latter! :lol1:

I like your style man, means you get something to smile about whatever the hell happens.
Also Greg confidently assures us that Erislandy's basically done so that's money in the bag right there... :lol1:

I did a similar thing for both fights lol. I picked Baraou on here and bet on Culcay Dec at 5.5x. Picked Postol on here and put a fraction of my winnings on Ramirez KO 7-12 at same 5.5 odds.
Good luck to you my friend and all you other fine fellows of the PICKEM league
Thanks man, but as you saw money and myself are like oil and water! :lol1:
If you've picked Ramirez decision in this then I should probably change my pick!
Perfect pick on Ramirez... and money lost everywhere else, as per my weekly tradition. :lol1:
Too bad I wasted a x2 on Baraou rather than Ramirez...
Talking about coherence, here's what I did for the weekend: picked Ramirez by decision for The League of Gentlemen (ourselves!), but...
...also put four fivers for a Postol KO win in one of the last four rounds, AND a tenner on a huge Greg Vendetti upset points win at 26:1. I'm the master at money wasting. :lol1:

Won't lie I picked the kid cos of the odds, I started with a Culcay DEC but when I saw the massive turnaround in the odds I was thinking someone must know something I didn't... and of course I was also thinking about the x2.:lol1:

I had thought they would build a Hamed-like sort of character given Baraou's attitude in the sparse footage I had watched. That's why I picked him. More fool me... as always.

TBH though with a little more seasoning Abass would have taken that, he certainly wasn't lacking the skill or the will it's just experience at the higher level he was lacking... too tentative early and giving away his advantages late rounds.

Was it even a good fight ?
Just thought the younger guy would take advantage of the old man

Baraou cannot be anything even remotely close to fughin good if he can’t beat Jack Culcay
Abass ain't gonna be some world beater elite, but for a complete unknown that even some of the deep boxing cognescenti on here had barely heard of until a few days ago, the kid did pretty damn well.
Culcay's a consistent top 10 kinda guy who's held his own against the some of the best even if he's fallen short and he's a massive ask for any 9 and 0 prospect. Besides TBH it was Jack's experience and compusure in there that got him the nod here... give Baraou another year or two seasoning and it woulda been a fairly straightforward win for him I reckon.
Either way a definite baptism of fire and I wish more kids would be thrown in that deep that soon, Abass will grow from it for sure, though only time will tell if he ever makes it to the top echelons.

It was a decent fight, especially for it being on a Friday in the states. I feel like the judges messes up, but all in all it was worth a watch
