Showtime Boxing is dead. Benavidez fight was in 149th place on cable right behind Paid Program. How do they expect to sell PPVs when nobody is watching their network?
Update: It seems that 198k was actually the ratings for the 20 minute segment prior to the Benavidez fight. The controversy surrounding the Romero fight was more interesting to viewers than any of the actual fights.

When BoxingScene has reported on streaming numbers they've still been crap. The numbers are bad because this was an awful card, it's that simple. The theory that it's cord cutting/streaming's fault is easily disproven by the fact that HBO still managed to place in the top 10. these pbc defenders always try to pull this what about the streamers crap when trying to defend these horrible ratings. these cards are horrible aint nobody streaming it and if there is the numbers are tiny!
Any economic experts on here who explain how networks are making a profit from fighters demanding million dollar purses for low six figure viewers? I just don't see where the value is.
Actually, Showtime's subs are UP during the pandemic period when compared to last year.
The problem is, the Nielsen numbers are no longer that accurate when it comes to premium networks like Showtime or even HBO.
For example, I have Showtime through Hulu and my family members have it through Youtube - and none of those are counted in the Nielsen viewing figures.
Also, Showtime streams like Showtime Anytime, etc, are also not counted. You are absolutely correct. Showtime is no longer just a linear channel. Now it's an online streaming channel where it's very difficult to gauge the actual number of viewers watching when many of those same viewers are opting to stream their cards online through a streaming app like Showtime Anytime or through Hulu Plus or Amazon Prime.
espinoza destroyed showtime boxing from within because he was in cahoots with haymon. how showtime let him get away with that is beyond me but they prob dont pay attention to whats going on
I have Showtime thru Amazon.
That doesn't explain why their numbers have dropped off by 30% of what they were getting pre-pandemic. This has more to do with the quality of the product.
I’ve hung in tough as a showtime subscriber given The last series I enjoyed on showtime was resurrection blvd.
But last Saturday’s card was a good card.
Unfortunately Mariñez was robbed but will have redemption.
**** tier numbers. I thought Benavidez was popular?
What's worse is that these are actually the Wallin-Kauffman numbers. Benavidez-Angulo did worse numbers and didn't even make the top 150 chart.

You also have to account for idiots like me who are so used to illegally streaming boxing that I'll be halfway through streaming a Showtime boxing telecast before I remember that I actually have Showtime.

Who knows how accurate their methodology is, but they do try to account for that now.

As of today, Hulu’s live TV offering and YouTube TV are now included in Nielsen TV ratings through the company’s Digital in TV Ratings product. DTVR measures viewing on PC and mobile devices, and across apps that are owned and operated by the broadcast networks, cable nets and apps made available by wireless and cable companies.
No matter the device, if viewers watch cable or broadcast TV shows on Hulu’s live service (not SVOD) or YouTube TV within the three-day or seven-day window and sees the same commercial load that ran when the show first aired on linear, the network can count their viewing into its standard Nielsen TV rating.

They say you learn something new every day...
This is my lesson for the day...
They have been on a very long hiatus due to this current pandemic and many people have probably cancelled their premium cable subscription because of it.

Going head to head vs a UFC PPV wasn't smart either as much as some boxing fans THINK Boxing is still more popular
I was more interested in the UFC Event and turned away from this fight after a couple of rounds because I knew David would win and watched Sean O'Malley vs Marlon Vera instead
