Because he is a slow starter. He needs 5-6 rounds rounds to do something. I just rewatched Wilder -Washington. Even C American level Washington was outboxing him until the stoppage. Than I rewatched Wilder -Duhaupas. That is the best Wilder`s fight ever, he showed some great combinations, tried angles, but still it took him 11 rounds to take a journeyman out.
That is why I don`t believe he can beat Joshua or Fury, he gets busy too late..reason he took out Stiverne and Breazeale that early is, both guys sucked..
Wilder loses every phantasy fight against ATG men. Imagine Wilder boxing prime Mike tyson and waiting first 5-6 rounds what if Mike gonna do...
Stop it. Ortiz hasn't done **** for you to say that.
He doesn't have to do anything. He passes the eye test in spades.
Favor a brawler with porous defense over a slick southpaw classic boxer with high ring IQ? Not me.
He looks bad against all competition. The reason why Wilder looks so bad is due to his complete lack of fundamentals. I mean, look at this. He's looking at Fury like a deer in the headlights. Arms down, chin up, within range to get cracked. He doesn't know what to do.

Teddy Atlas here explains what's wrong very well in this video:
Wilder, if you look at his last fight, was all over the place. That sleep walking position he likes to take? He did that a lot against Fury. Wouldn't even try to defend himself but would, instead, throw both his hands out as if trying to keep Fury at bay while running away. Reminds me of a school yard fight some guy is losing. He wouldn't even LOOK at Fury but would advert his gaze. He'd have no idea what was happening next.
These mistakes pointed out by Teddy were repeated against Fury and made the match look as lopsided as it was, IMO. You will see ALL of these mistakes exploited by Fury.
Boxing has always been determined by how good your footwork and balance is...time and time again we have seen wilder off balance and with terrible footwork.
He lacks the fundamentals and sooner or later he was going to get clipped and he did and he has so many bad habits that I don’t see anyway back for him except if he lands that right hand.
His best bet against fury is to straighten up his punches and improve his core strength but it’s a really tall order
He's always looked bad against a decent boxer..
If Ortiz could actually finish a bloke off he would be up on Wilder too...
Because these people can't finish off, it gives someone with the power of Wilder to put the fight to bed...
...Because he has no damn Boxing Skills!
I somewhat lost respect for him as a boxer in the ring when I seen a Interview with him and Radio Rahim and him talking about "Skills Are Overrated" which is a very ignorant thing to say for a Boxer! He can only beat Fury if he Knocks him because of his lack of "Skills"
Because he has intermediate boxing skills. Above elite level punching power, but intermediate boxing skills.
What actual type of boxer is he? A pressure fighter? A boxer puncher? A ambush fighter? A counter puncher? Nobody knows, not even Deontay Wilder knows, he has no style 'He just reacts to whatever is happening to him inside of a ring, pretty much like a Novice or Intermediate level fighter.
If he really wanted to and made it his only goal, he could improve his boxing skills 'I am not one of these people who deny this, but I just don't think he has the attitude to do it'.
And Wyte has??? Ohh 1st he fails ped tests and Rivas camp doesn't k iew then they get told Whyte has a 3rd pair of gloves (No chain of command) AND they're already on so his trainer can't see how they wrapped his hands... That some BS!
You guys over seas allowed do whatever ya want. I mean Nassal Spray Saunders got popped for sht allowed over there but banned everywhere else.
Are you aware that Ortiz has popped dirty? His cheating was basically 100% factual as well, whereas Whyte's is 'iffy' for you to make your own mind up.
One guy has beaten Rivas, Parker, Chisora, the other guy has beaten..... Jennings? Hammer?
To even compare the two resumes is verging on blasphemy, even if I think both will get dominated by Fury, Wilder and AJ.
Ortiz has been wildly overblown because he has a great look, great nickname and the PBC wanted Wilder to have a reputation boost.
He looks bad against everyone until that right hand lands.
I remember him fighting a retired super middleweight carrying 120lbs of fat that came to the ring with two knee braces on and still Wilder made him look like Roy Jones Jr until his knee blew out from all the fat he was carrying.
I think Bellew summed him up best ''He's a one trick pony but it's a helluva trick!''
And Wyte has??? Ohh 1st he fails ped tests and Rivas camp doesn't k iew then they get told Whyte has a 3rd pair of gloves (No chain of command) AND they're already on so his trainer can't see how they wrapped his hands... That some BS!

Yes, Whyte has beaten much better guys than Ortiz did. Why you deny that?
