Understanding Racism against Travellers/Gypsies in the UK

So you agree with me that you can't judge all travelers by the actions of a few. Thanks for that. The argument though is that it's not a few though. I live in germany, we have Roma gypsies. Those are my anecdotal experiences, but I only had negative experiences dealing with them. Of course there are good gypsies among them, but it seems to me that a significant share is not. And it doesnt have anything to do with race, it's just the environment they grew up with which reinforces certain types of (negative) behaviour.

Gypsies are disliked for good reasons...they dump their trash all over the side of the road and leave the areas they basically take over like a dump. They terrorize people who try to highlight their wrongdoings and criminal behaviour. I've known and met plenty of travelers and i have the complete opposite experience, they've all been sound lads, not had an issue with any of them. Stop stereotyping an entire group. I have dozens of stories just from my personal experiences and immediate people around me involving threats at gun point, beating of 16 yr old for having birth defect, local store robbings hospitalising workers, tool robbings with death threats to drop charges, general trying to start fights, leaving human waste and rubbush on fields they've occupied. Speaking to anyone else that lives near them or watching the news and it just confirm it's more of the same. Anyone who's never encountered travellers who have a proud culture of being social menaces to those around them shouldn't say anything about them. People from the outside think they're some group who are blindly treated horribly as if it were borne of some racism of sorts but they're the same colour as us. They just lack the morals to be the same as ourselves, they are proud of treating everyone and everything around them like ****. I've encountered very few of them that are decent people that still live as travellers. It's harsh lifestyle that is entirely criminal and brutal in nature. Women have no rights in their culture, inbreeding and child abuse is rife. They're honestly not only backwards, but willingly awful people to those around them. Whataboutism. Travellers are a protected ethnic group and shouldn't be subject to racist abuse. That's a fact. Racism is wrong, period. Indeed. As the other guy was saying in this thread, replace the word 'Gypsy/pikey' with other ethnic groups and understand how hateful you sound. There are many God-fearing, good Gypsy men but people don't tally up all the good against the bad and only speak of the bad as if they represent all. In the John Fury video it's sad to see such a tough man be sad and feel like he has to leave the premises so as to not offend them by his mere presence, and Peter Fury describes how him and his brothers were treated as kids in the 70s when entering school and being registered as Travellers, they'd cop physical abuse every day and being a Traveller, they'd move to another area every few weeks and enter a new school only for the cycle to repeat. Especially being a kid, you don't expect the cruelty of the world to slap you in the face and for you to be told you're different, an outcast, unwanted and then have to be tormented and bullied for something out of your control. Fury used to have a big chip on his shoulder but he has seen the love of the British public now and while he still maintains his Gypsy heritage, he tries to fit in and be just like everyone else. The media is a lot to blame, both those on the political 'left' and 'right' can say whatever they want about Gypsies and get away with it. Big John getting racially harassed and abused while going outside should be a national news story but they don't care. I like the Fury's because they are real people and treat everyone they meet with respect and they like other real people too, people like that can detect a forced smile and greeting from a mile away.
