Who was a better Mexican heavyweight?

Ruiz, Arreola has a lot of heart, but couldn't win the big one. Would be fun to watch them fight each other though, Ruiz would be the favorite based on resume.

I don’t particularly rate either but it has to be Ruiz. His one notable win eclipses Arreola’s entire career.

Andy tried his best to prolong his ''reign'' (if you blinked, you missed it) by crying about some Saudi conspiracy and how it wasn't safe for Mexican/Americans to go there. He was king for a day. That's embarrassing and I'm positive you would agree if Andy wasn't Mexican.

This heavyweight era is better than the 80-2000’s because of advanced testing. The previous generations after the 70’s was a very dark time in boxing because of no testing done in today’s standards. Don’t you find that ironic? A Ruiz type of physique back in the 80’2000s would’ve fought like Pacquiao before advanced drug testing! Dem is fax! I'm not going to assume there have been eras filled with druggies. I think we can agree on how lame this HW era is.

Arreola never came close to winning a title. Ruiz beat the number on ranked HW at the time and gave Joshua a whipping. Go back to the drawing board. King for a day is almost the exact same thing as not being a king at all.

Lol. Right. Unfortunately Ruiz didn’t have the benefit for a Trilogy like Fury vs Wilder. Rather practical for Andy not having the opportunity for a Third “adjustment” when there’s no fight. Like AJ not making the “adjustments” in the first fight? When Ruiz got floored in fight 1 did he make adjustments? Btw, the forum knows I’m a huge AJ fan. Just stop hating on Ruiz it’s rather stupid. He’s a good fighter, explosive, and has has great 1-2 combos. Sure, but how many immediate rematches have there been at Heavyweight? I think Andy couldve defended against many other heavyweights, no problem. How many Heavyweights have fought two different styles like AJ in an immediate rematch? Joshua was super cautious in the rematch. Such context is important if we need to theorize hypothetical defenses against others. The Andy that ''fought'' AJ wasn't going to beat anyone. A legit champ makeS necessary adjustments.

Ruiz without a question. He at least won the title when he got his chance. They may both be fat but Ruiz has way better boxing skills.

Fatter or better?

One of them won 3 belts against an Undefeated Champion. It’s rather self explanatory... And at the same time, showed he wasn't meant to be a king. Andy by the ''slimmest'' of margins Edit - Winning a title is nice. Keeping it is great.

Ruiz. Arreola made a career out of being a human punching bag.

Ruiz is much better in my opinion. Arreola has lost many times and been stopped twice. Ruiz became a world champion while Arreola never came close in two attempts. Ruiz only lost twice and has only been knocked down once

Cristobal is mostly known for taking asswhoopings. So I would have to say Andy Ruiz. He was able to win at least part of the unified Heavyweight championship; Something that Cris Arreola has not been able to. Arreola can take a seriously good ass whipping though Lol

Ruiz easily. He only looked bad against Joshua in their rematch, but Arreola looked bad like every other fight he was in. I lost count of the times Arreola lost badly only for him to say afterwards, "Uh man. No more burritos and no more cervezas, no more pizza. I'm gonna be serious next time!" Then he shows up even fatter and lazier for his next fight. :lol1:

That one upset win over Joshua eclipses the entirety of Arreola's career put together.
