What changed? How can people show undying loyalty for 4-5-6 years, then overnight drop all allegiance and act like they knew Wilder was trash all along? Am I the only one who finds this behaviour odd?
Six months ago comments sections and YouTube videos would be filled with people making brash statements about Deontay knocking everyone out with ease, past and present. Those same people still fill the comments sections, but now say the exact opposite.

It’s boxing, boxing fans are the worst fans in all of sports especially casuals!
Lots of armchair warriors talking how their grandma would whoop Wilder and the closet racists saying Fury whooped Wilder like he was on a plantation!
Wilder lost 1 fight and now he’s the worst champion in history and has had all his fights rigged!
It happened to AJ too when he lost to Ruiz, people were saying how he’ll retire after the Ruiz fight win or lose or that he was a hypejob coddled by Eddie Hearn!
Only thing that bugged me the most besides the ignorant bigot comments was how people go around and praise Fury as the best thing since slice bread but call Wilder a bum and garbage!
By calling Wilder that you take shine away from Fury’s performance and victory! Have people forgot that Fury was never more focused and never more serious than when he fought Wilder again?
If Wilder beats Fury in the trilogy they’ll likely jump back and say Wilder’s the greatest KO artist of all time!

Because they never genuinely understood the sport in the first place...and because they can't formulate an opinion based on their own knowledge, they defer their thinking to others they hear or read who they believe are knowledgeable.
When the herd changes direction, they do too. It's just typical 'jump on the conventional thinking' bandwagon.
Probably because they expected him to give Fury a close hard fight and maybe knock him down again or knock him out. Fury beat the hell out of him every round instead.
he was never good. it was a funny joke that people turned serious. like trump. the dumb people making the joke convinced the stupids and it became a monster
I haven't seen his fans trash him (but I was against the way he was treating Mark Breland for the stoppage). There's a big difference between acknowledging he wasn't "ready" on fight night vs trashing the guy, or any fighter.
Wilder is still very dangerous. Serious boxing fans never confused that with being invincible ... no one is ever invincible. I've maintained Wilder can come back and win with proper prep. Still very dangerous for other fighters too, still a champ. Vulnerabilities have been exposed defensively for those who can force Wilder into a cage match. Everyone knew that though ... you guys have been saying every guy he fights outboxes him (its not true), till he knocks them out.
i think wilders biggest fans knew he was limited and towing a dangerous line the way he was giving away rounds with low output....
im still a fan...i dont really watch youtube boxing videos or read the comment on them...so no clue
i still like him and hes still fun to watch as hes dangerous...hes not for purists...i can enjoy a pure boxer too and just as much as any other style...but i can still like and enjoy what wilder brings
Only as good as his last fight bud, it's boxing.
I'm still a Wilder fan but Deontay has to give me some ammo before I can come at you hard. The **** can I say? You got lucky? That's not for me.
Great way to put it. The first line says it all.

Why do people who have lauded Wilder for years now trash him? | BoxingScene Community
