Everyone knows Boxing in Japan is huge. The fans on here that follow the Japanese boxing scene also know that there is almost never any shady scoring, bad refs and the crowds are always phenomenal.
So I noticed that Japan is doing incredibly well with Covid, flattening the curve and almost getting rid of the virus completely. What do you guys think the odds are that they start putting on some cards soon?
Lianhui and Shiming, the two Chinese fighters Arum was grooming, both lost multiple times and their careers fizzled out. Pacquiao fighting there helped him and Arum both, despite plummeting Pac's US PPV numbers; Arum was trying to grow boxing over there and Pacquiao is a draw, and Pacquiao didn't want to owe any more taxes in the US. But Pac left Top Rank and eventually sorted his issues with the IRS, so he has no reason to go back to China.
Arum hasn't entirely given up on China, he was sending Ramirez over there for his next fight before COVID, but that whole era was a bust outside of putting some quick money in Arum's pocket.
That Shiming was terrible as a pro, I remember getting great odds on Amnat Ruenroeng to beat him.
They managed to get him a vacant WBO belt in the end but then Kimura exposed him again.
I was wondering whether they’d go back to Macau, I was there in 2018 and it is similar to Vegas. Why did Arum stop doing those big Macau shows?

Yeah, Murata/N'Dam was the only one I could think of off the top of my head. Robbery, but there hasn't been once since IIRC.
Inoue/Casimero in Japan would be massive. Hoping to se Tanaka/Ioka too. But if guys are Covid free, no reason IMO that Top Rank can't start hosting fights in Japan instead of China. Japanese fans would still go nuts for big good fights, even if it weren't their own.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some big fights in the Tokyo Dome like Tyson-Douglas.
Last robbery I remember in Japan was when Murata got robbed against N’Dam.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Canelo/GGG fight Murata in Japan. Arum should definitely move Inoue-Casimero to Japan too.
