Certain fans will slam you if you are undefeated..but as soon as you lose they slam you and call you a bum....Why cant you just say no matter what the boxer does you simply just dont like them and never will???
This is why I say post Oscar Floyd’s resume is sh it
What did the fighter do after you fought them? That says it all and with the exception of manny and Conelo the others fighters weren’t sh it. They went off into nothing. Oh but but but they were champs and number one yeah ok then what they never made it back to top3 so how good of a win was that? Not good if you ask me
Agree. A lot of those guys were good fighters but not at WW. If you look at their records at 147, it's pretty bad.
An undefeated record sounds great but it don't mean anything if you don't have more information on the opponents the fighter built his record against.
That sounds like common sense but if you read lots of comments on NSB, common sense aint so common.:D

Being undefeated as a fighter became a huge factor in a boxers perceived quality long before anyone ever heard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Not everything that screwed up in boxing is Floyd’s fault.
Give me an example? You can’t! Back in the good days the best fought the best because they wanted to be the best period. Was there ducking yes of course since the beginning of time but floyd made it ok to duck with his bs calculated risks. He never fought the biggest threat he would conveniently wait til chumps like Guerrero or ortrees were champs then he would fight them. But when we had champs like PWill or sexy Sergio to name just a few he was conveniently silent picking on little guys like a JMM and cheating him on the scales. Y’all forget that sh it or using the bulk**** excuse of oh he called me out but other tougher fighters called him out and it’s crickets cause he knew it was a chance he can get an 0 and all his stupid fans just ate it up and still do to this day.
Now fighters like fake Davis, bud Crawford, And others think they can do the same thing and never give us fans the fights we want and deserve

This forum is too ****ing obsessed with fighters over the sport itself, that's why it happens. Everyone attaches their boxing fandom to specific fighters, and that inevitably leads to them doing everything you said.
It's ****ing lame.
I am surprised of all u sports fans. It all comes down to, betting on a fighter, when they win money, that's their golden goose. When they loss money on him he becomes a bum.
because if u are undefeateed u may be seen by some to be ducking or avoiding the toughtest challenges even tho u could make them and when u lose or if u lose then u auto lose a lot of shine and its like, i told u so to the fighters hardcore fans u have gone on and on about the guhy for years and years
A lot of people criticized Marciano's undefeated record. For decades and even today. His fans defend him, his detractors think he's overrated. The difference with Marciano is that he never claimed to be the greatest of all time or the best ever. He was a humble champion.
Any fighter who sticks their head above the crowd to announce to the world they are the best ever, is going to receive a lot of criticism. Floyd opens himself up to this. He invites it with his arrogance and disrespect of other fighters. What would you expect?
Not really. But gg g was considered hypejob when unbeaten also, so at least people consistent.
Same with floyd, people think he's a hypejob. It don't take a loss.
As a boxer all you got the power to do is answer as many questions of you as you can, be it fight abroad, rematch your biggest rivals to silence doubters, come back from loss or adversity, create adversity yourself by taking risks more than once or twice, more often than not preferbly.
You do this in your career you will be heading in right direction.
Nobody thinks losses is bad. The most revered boxers all lost. The only people who diss boxers who have been beaten are fans of unbeaten boxers. To just put unbeaten boxers on a pedestal is unrealistic, we are reduced to ottke, marciano, Ricardo lopez, valero, Floyd and Calzaghe and that thai boxer who's name escaped me? We'd be missing all that heavenly glory.
I swear the only people who claim GGG is was a hypejob when he was undefeated are people who have an agenda.
If you were dumb enough to swallow the promotion maybe GGG wasnt the problem but peoples own low ass IQs.
Seriously, instead of watching the damn sport they wanna cling to narratives that they think determines the outcome rather than what happens in the ring.
See GGG/Canelo 1 and 2
Imagine if your star player on your team didnt score. I guess your time instantly loses because the other team "took away" your star player. Is this how it works?
"Oh Canelo won because hypejob GGG couldnt knock him out. Overrated. Overrated power. Only KOs cans"
But seriously no one wanted a part of GGG from 2012-2016 and out of everyone they can only name one guy
Andre Ward
As a guy GGG ducked when Ward couldnt even make 168, previously had declined a fight with GGG in 2013, and GGG was already going in a different direction.
You ever wonder what percentage of people hate GGG because hes white and eastern european and that's it?
I'd bet 99%
In boxing, you have three things:
1. Your health;
2. The money;
3. The people you beat.
Have any two of these by the end of career and you are a great fighter. All three is a bliss / exceptional fighter.
All the matchmaking revolves around maximizing one or two of these three things.
It’s Floyd’s fault Larry not the fans. He created this undefeated bull sh it and it worked for him. But people don’t realize that he isn’t the goat and most everyone has a had a loss. Now If you lose your career seems to be over for a fawking loss or two. Shouldn’t be that way but it is and it’s sad

I agree...
GGG is a prime example.
Goes 38-0 dominating the 160 lb division.
At 36 years old, finally loses a highly competitive and controversial decision to a modern great and people wanna label him as a hype job, overrated etc.

End of the day, man, there's no more futile effort than to try to convince folk the way they're behaving is wrong by just telling 'em man. Only person you can control and the only person whose words you're responsible for is your own. Behave how you'd like to see other folk behaving, judge yourself by the same standards you'd judge others and you won't go too far wrong in any community... those are simple extensions of the basic ethic of reciprocity which you'll find in pretty much every belief system and simply good rules to live life by.
When it comes to this boxing forum another simple extension is to judge all fighters by the standards you'd apply to your favourites, before you leap in to slate a guy ask yourself what you'd be saying if it was a guy you liked just lost or whatever. And I ain't saying you gonna change anyone else's behaviours but at least you'll be being consistent and true to yourself which is all anyone can ask - and who knows, enough of us start behaving sensibly and treating everyone with respect around here we might eventually be able to turn this shit around a little.
You ain't gonna change dudes by preaching man, but there's an outside chance that if you're true to yourself, behave with integrity and strive to avoid hypocrisy some folk might see that as something worth emulating. What's that saying, 'Be the change you want to see'? it's a good'un.
EDIT: and whilst we all natrurally got preferences I found trying understand the viewpoints and the decisions of the fighters I cared less for - arguing their corner if you like, or actually going looking for what was special or unique in each fighter - helped me appreciate the sport as a whole more and I like to think improved me as a boxing fan.
Same here, really good post!!! I agree 100 percent which is why I try to discuss various boxers. A lot of time when I am looking at fighters as a coach/ trainer I tend to prefer the ones that fight utilizing fundamentals that I teach but in discussions and promoting fighters I really just want to see the sport grow, gain more respect and have all fighters get their recognition and respect that they are due.

Larry my friend, what the FU%K are you talking about? What???
"Haters hate you if you are undefeated, but for some reason those same haters hate you even more when you lose...what gives?"
I don't get it....are haters supposed to love fighters they hate once that fighter loses? Is that how it's supposed to work?
Larry, no offence my man but was this sh£t supposed to fry the brains of everyone who read it? Because that's what you just did brotha. My lawyer will be in contact with you shortly.

Smart matchmaking could make any fighter look better than they actually are. If you make a career beating bums, just to step up and lose, you deserve to be criticized for that. Being undefeated doesn't mean much, if you've never faced good fighters.
You just hit the nail on the head, when posters call a fighter a bum they have lost me, anyone who has been in the ring themselves should know better, all the couch potato experts here that make ludicrous comments and statements yet have never done a minute of training, yet according to themselves have all the answers, they are the problem
It is what it is
Wasn’t always like this , to be honest
First and foremost , I believe it’s totally wrong to call any boxer a bum
But to answer your question , to admit that kind of guilt would deter many of the so-called fans from their agenda , whatever it may be
That would be just to easy imo

Honestly we all do it, whether its because we dislike the boxer or his fans, we all do it. I generally don't like calling boxers bums, but in boxing we genuinely have boxers who ARE bums. Now that isn't a bad thing per say as they are just their to give another boxer quantity in terms of numbers on their resume.
