Different times buddy sporting nostalgia is very much emotionally driven by fans on about the good ol days where men were men , has nothing to do with the true ability of the players its more about how the story interprets their ability .
I dont believe in GOAT for anyone, way to many variables for my way of thinking.
I pretty well agree with the last part. It’s impossible to compare really. What I do know, is the mindset is different these days. Fighters make more money and have more control. They learned from the way past fighters got used up. It’s hard to imagine how the history of the sport would look if fighters of bygone eras were as selective in general as some fighters these days.
It’s all relative to how much these guys fought. How many losses would a guy with a handful of losses in 20-30 fights have if he fought 5x as many fights? I get it, they fought a lot of no hopers, as was part of the landscape of the sport in those days with the sheer amount of active professionals, but most of them also fought all the best fighters around them through multiple weight classes without marinating.

How about show me a top liner today fighting guys with 45 losses , the overall quality is better today . Another way of putting it is SRR could not fight and beat 174 guys of the level Mayweather fought or what Manny fought , he be burned out in no time, its all about the level of opponent time after time, how would it go down if Floyd Manny were fighting guys with 45 losses .
A lot of the delay in fights today is promotional reasons.

Well who are all these guys today fighting 3 A level opponents per year? There’s plenty of guys fighting opponents levels below them now. These guys might face one top level opponent per year, then it’s a long rest, tuneups etc.

boxing legends, trainers and boxing aficionados think that pac is the GOAT.
Floyd mayweather jr himself think that fhe's the GOAT.
That's the difference between them.
Here we go again, please name one boxing legend, trainer, or boxing aficionado who ever said Pac was the GOAT.

Its the wear and tear and intensity of fighting A grade fighters, when you fight guys levels below youre not even in the same shape its like a sparing session and nowhere near fighting the real top liners, SRR was fighting guys that had 26 losses and 7 wins, 45 losses , 27 losses , go and add up the losses on the resumes of his opponents its way high.
Again its easy to fight lots of fights with guys way below your level, todays top guys could easily fight the numbers the old school fighters had with the same opponents.
When fans stop looking at titles numbers statistics etc and start looking at the athlete as a machine , then level of competition just like a trainer looks at a racehorse, no emotion just pure mechanics then they will start seeing whats real with fighters.

Well who’s to say how many “bums” is equal to one or two “A grade” fighters or even what that is? Most fighters today are not facing 3 A grade opponents per year...if that was the case, there’d be a whole lot less complaining.

Its easy to fight every month when the comp is very low, its extremely hard to fight 3 times a year when the comp is A grade championship level.
Joe Louis fought a truck load of cans near on monthly so did Ray Robinson, go through their careers and number the A grade guys and all of a sudden their resume drops to the same numbers of modern day greats .
“I wish I could fight ten times a year, once a month would be good. I offered to do a bum a month campaign like Joe Louis – they won’t let me do it,” he added. Tyson Fury.

It’s hard to compare fighters of this era to past atg fighters. People say the old timers fought cab drivers etc, but many of them also fought several times a month and hundreds of times in their careers. It’s hard to imagine the divas of today being able to match such a gruelling schedule.

He has a good argument for goat depending how you define it. Based on modern day standards he ranks very highly. As far as having the most consistentcy he is the best ever.
As far as having the best peak ability or wins I wouldn't say so.
As far as being the most complete fighter in history, he is up there but I would say Sugar Ray Leonard is more complete than him because of his superior combination punching and finishing abilities.

Exactly. It works both ways when you compare the old era to the new era
:lol1: I wrote this a while ago and I'm not sure if I was ****ing with folks or not. Floyd's a troll's subject these days bud. I see, something did feel off lol.
That said, what's a record if it only exists in a rule set? Marciano's the only unbeaten HW champion...that's what people say. They don't say Marciano is the only unbeaten gloved champion. Which is the truth. There's like ten or so unbeaten HW champions from LPRR. Armstrong being known as the only simultaneous champion is true from 686BC to the present? Or it's true from 1888 to the present? I'm not sure what LPRR means, but generally when people talk about boxing they're not taking into account the entirety of human history. So yeah, late 19th century, marquess of queensberry rules and onward.
On Roy, correct me if I am wrong, Ezzard was never champion at MW. If we're just including guys who gained weight over their careers I believe Charles' main rival Walcott also started at MW didn't he? Those guys didn't become champion at MW, they just started there while they gained weight and became champion. Ezzard's a LHW and HW champion, he's missing a title to match Roy. You should respect the sole achievement given no one else in the full 3k years history of boxing in any form has ever done it. Yes, this is true. Ezzard was never given a title shot at middleweight despite beating Charley Burley there. He was actually never given a title shot at light heavyweight either. Though I have him as the best light heavyweight ever ahead of Archie Moore. Even still, Ezzard is a guy rarely talked about as being the GOAT despite a tremendous resume across 3 traditional weight classes. Let us not forget that when Charles won his title at heavy he was UNDISPUTED champion, unlike Roy, who only won a piece of the title.
To the rest, completely disregards the entire evolution of surface level fighting strategy let alone adjustment strats. PBF didn't fight like Money and Money never walked anyone down like TBE did McNugget. Then even within these named eras of May you have subtle changes. Maidana I is different from Maidana II because Money adjusted. You can tell me but Vagas doe, but gloves doe, but, he whipped that boy all over that ring doe. His fights are not close enough, and his adjustments certainly are not close enough, to cry over agreed before the fight equipment. Floyd is a great adjuster for sure.
Definitely not the GOAT in my opinion but he’s worthy of being in the GOAT conversation depending on criteria.
He’s a solid top 10 ATG IMO, based on his consistency of high level performance but he never reached the heights that other greats reached IMO.
Floyd knows people don't think he's the best ever. Floyd s knows he's not got the best resume ever, but he believes he's got the best defence ever or even skills.
Someone should start a thread about how do people think Floyd feels about knowing people dont think he's the best ever! Does he lose sleep over it? To what level does it bother him that most don't think he's as great as pac?
I don't start threads usually I don't like spotlight
There is so much more to this that you pay no attention or even acknowledge, he was more than just a boxer he became a brand its no small achievement, the boxing is one part the self promotion and selling it was never done before on this level from a boxer .
