In the Steve Rolls fight ggg in the first round alone went to the body about 8 times or more but vs Canelo he didn’t even try in the entire 2 fights. Had to bring this up because the
GALOVKIDS are claiming that genadiy was to old to go to the body vs Canelo. I’m saying he was too scared of Canelo to even try.
I think it’s because fighting on the inside with Rolls doesn’t present the same kind of threat as fighting on the inside with Canelo does.
Watch round 1 to see what lil Johnny considers fearless body punching, you will cry with laughter

This will be fun, just to show how little knowledge you have, I dare you to watch the 1st round that you are speaking of and note down what time in the round these fearless body shots occurred, should only take 4 minutes, I can’t wait to see the result, I’m laughing already, if you want to make it a complete comedy, rate those fearless body shots aswell, if anyone else wants to see what lil Johnny considers a fearless bodypuncher at age 35, just watch ggg vs rolls 1st round, lil Johnny has absolutely no idea
It's a bit of a shame because at certain points you have to seize the moment to find greatness, kind of like what Hagler did with Hearns, but for whatever reason Golovkin cant take himself to that place.
Golovkin ain’t about that life.
He used to be, but now he got a taste of money and pussie and he’s afraid to die in the ring now.
:lol1: What is this? Canelo's an elite counterpuncher and Rolls is.... Rolls.
Golovkin was largely reduced to a jabbing game cos he ain't stupid and figured very quickly that attacking Canelo was gonna play to Canelo's best asset and lead to him having the shit countered out of him. He worked the jab because that's all he could do consistently, safely and effectively.
I've said it many times but the traditional view of GGG as some kinda reckless KO machine has always been wrong - he ain't about taking wild risks to win a fight but about methodically building up his advantages. Fundamentally he's conservative in his approach, playing the odds, using pressure to create the openings to exploit and the heavy hands and volume to create consistent damge. It's also why the comparisons between Kovalev and Golovkin never really made much sense to me - except inasmuch as they were both Eastern Eurpeans who knocked people out.... they were fundamentally very different in their approach and mentality.
It's also one of the reasons I give GGG next to no chance should there be a third meeting, I think temprementally he might be unable to get away from that safety first mentality in the ring - and I think a balls to wall, all bets are off offense is the only way he could possibly score the KO (outside chance though it may be) and I think a KO would be his only possible chance of winning at this point in time, barring some unexpected freak occurance. Patience and persistance are hugely effective weapons, but the time comes you sometimes gotta throw caution to the wind.
Great post, and this is how I've seen the whole rivalry. GGG imo could have drowned Canelo in the first two fights if he was willing to risk drowning himself.
I'm not a big Abel Sanchez fan, but this was one of their fundamental points of disagreement after the second fight. Golovkin and his team made a show of calling Canelo a runner in whole build up to the 2nd fight, but when he stood his ground Golovkin didnt go to war like they promised. He still fought cautious, just as he did in the first fight when he had Canelo on the ropes. I agree I dont think it's in his psyche to throw caution to the wind, use his instincts and kill or be killed.
I really feel in a shootout, a high pace war, he would have stopped Canelo in the later rounds. I think he is fundamentally a product of his amateur system. It's a bit of a shame because at certain points you have to seize the moment to find greatness, kind of like what Hagler did with Hearns, but for whatever reason Golovkin cant take himself to that place.

exactly the same thing happened to Canelo's last 4 opponents
journalist:
"why was Chavez so quiet, was that because of Canelo's counter-punching?"
Roy Jones Jnr:
" yep, he kept them hands at home because Canelo is too sharp "
but oh no, never... that could never happen to G... it must be different somehow, there simply must be another reason

He didn’t get countered because they weren’t real body shots to the liver. They were basically jabs to the body. Go rewatch
I have watched. Funny enough, you noticed the jabs to the body, which somehow weren't counted at all in compubox. He threw a few solid liver shots and a couple good ones to Saul's left side. Obviously didn't throw enough but he landed some heavy ones.
Golovkin didn't even really get countered when he went to the body against Canelo, at least in the rematch. He slowly got away from body punching, even before Canelo but against Saul that was a stupid decision. He has the opportunity but he uses that chopping down left hook far too often instead of throwing to the body. He's going to get hit no matter what, might as well dig away. Could've thrown more to the body against Derev but he head-hunted a bit there as well. I just think he would be better off moving up. He looked much better physically at 164.

Canelo is too sharp/punishing

like I have said many times... Golovkin could not get his game going in EITHER of those fights
I don’t know. It could. Maybe he would be faster and more willing to engage on the inside with Canelo if he was 33 years old.
I honestly have no idea. If GGG said his age impacted his ability to get inside, I would believe him. If he said age had nothing to do with choosing to box from the outside I would believe him.
It’s silly to dismiss Canelo’s win over Golovkin because of his age. Golovkin was the top pound for pound fighter in the world when Canelo beat him. That being said, it’s also silly to ignore when the fight took place in Golovkin’s career and how old he was.
Hey man right on! I know the shots fired at Golovkin piss you off a bit but Let me just say as an all around fan of the sport you get points for keeping it real. I don’t consider you a fanboy like these other delusional Golovkin supporters
Golovkin had gotten away from his body attack for a while before Alvarez, and it's frustrating to see as a Golovkin fan.
I don't discredit Alvarez's skills and power and how that makes Golovkin not want to throw to the body because of fear of getting countered. At a certain point, though, the man needs to nut up and accept the possibility of getting countered because a consistent body attack is very important for him. He threw more to the body in the first fight but he was still too hesitant. Going back a few fights, it's like he bought into his power too much and lost the part of his style where he wore fighters down, thinking he will just land the hurtful punches upstairs and that will be enough.
I think it’s because fighting on the inside with Rolls doesn’t present the same kind of threat as fighting on the inside with Canelo does.
So your saying it has nothing to do with age?
