In the past week there's been a Twitter thread regarding one rule change in your favourite sport.
I understand that a good number on here don't regularly use Twitter so I'd be keen to hear everyone's thoughts and maybe spark some debate.
This is purely hypothetical as we sadly don't have a sole governing body. So feel free to use your imagination and not let it turn to unnecessary racism and bigotry etc.
If we can try and stick to one per post, that would be great.
I'll kick things off..
I'd like to see instant replay used for title fights: To confirm cause of cuts, check for foul play and act as 4th judge if the fight is a draw.
Interviews with the judges post fight, to explain wtf they just scored. If what they say sounds like nonsense, whoever is interviewing them, calls them out for it on live tv to embarrass the f*k out of them.
I think that’s a great idea
Get some insight on close fights and like you said , when it’s quite clear they fughed up , call them out on it
I bet there would be a lot less screwed up cards
I would have judging done by a board of judges. Maybe like 10 people.
It'd be like voting for the Hall of Fame or P4P rankings.
It'd be made up of journalists, ex-fighters, and highly esteemed boxing people.
That way Oscar couldn't just wine & dine Adelaide Byrd and get a favorable card.
I get what your saying but then we’d only get the results 3 days later lol
There’d be some heavy debates let me tell you
Only one world champion in each weight class.
This I like & you should have to defend your belt against the top rated contender at least once a year or you get stripped
Some interesting suggestions on the thread. I think we all want 1 belt and 1 champion but won't happen before a single governing body is formed. Instant replay is a must and should be enforced by all bodies and commissioners.
Same day hydration with hydration requirement to be able to fight.... Will keep fighters in their lane and not weight hop.
- -Mo' dimwittery solves all, eh?
U hopped up too?

1 Champion per weight class
11 or 13 rounds
Problem solved

- -Dude can't see the forest for the trees.
Ten point must system reads like a basketball score, yet no points are ever scored.
Designed to fleece the few lowbrows remaining to watch and otherwise bet on the fight.
And that just the tip of the iceberg of what needs to be done.
Instant replay is a good start. But it has to be done quickly, not like the NFL where it takes a huddle of officials over 5 minutes to make a ruling.
I would like to see a system for mandatories established for all of the sanctioning bodies. Best fight the best in order to get their title shots. None of this boosting someone to the head of the line because promoters are paying people off to give their guy a title shot.
Definitely the scoring system needs some tuning. Currently a close round, that could probably go either way, carries the same weight as one that is overwhelmingly in favor of one fighter.
You'd win fights based on who does the most damage, not by who wins the most rounds or accumulates the most points. It is possible to land more punches and power punches, and do more damage, yet still lose more rounds and therefore lose the whole fight.
What's ironic is that Floyd Mayweather himself would have a loss on his record if this rule was in place lol.
To confirm cause of cuts... YUP, good idea... but only the referee can request it... if he rules one way or the other... /story
To check for foul play... YUP, but only if the ref calls for instant replay... and if the ref does not call for a replay, a replay should not be shown on TV... the purpose is to judge the fight, not the ref... and it is unnecessary, and possibly unhelpful, to scrutinize every little thing ad nauseum
TO act as 4th judge if the fight is a draw... no way
1) a draw is fine... what is wrong with a draw... ?
why give the " winner " a chance to walk away from unfinished business?
2) no way is the ref qualified to make such a HUGE call... he just spent 36 minutes doing an entirely different job, one that requires total concentration and a totally different mindset... he will not have scored the fight... that job could only be performed by 2x additional judges... I don't agree with having 4 judges, they would need 5
draws are fine... some fights SHOULD be a draw
I think they need to be very careful how they use instant replay, or the 3rd ref... whatever you like to call it... not convinced it has benefited rugby/cricket in terms of the sport being a spectacle
just my 2c
Good points made and I think you're right.. some times a draw is a fair result.
I like the idea of having a judge viewing on a monitor but I'm not sure on the logistics of how it's implemented.
I hear you. I've always liked the idea of 5 judges and removing the the highest and lowest cards like in gymnastics. I think itneeds some more thought though.
I like this idea. No strong counter arguments come immediately to mind.

Good thoughts little bro...good post
No to mandatory 10-9. If the round is too close to call, score it a draw.
No to vague criteria like ring generalship. Too subjective. Boxer running away scared may get the nod.
It's hurt the other guy more than he hurts you.

not as a 4th judge. Yes for the others. Also to confirm KD's.
