HW rankings based on who would beat who.

When AJ defeats Usyk you guys will say he was to small and not a proven heavyweight. The list actually is way off to DDD at 3 and no Joyce , Wilder over AJ which at this point is very scepticle and a guy like Hrgovic at the bottom and Ortiz at 5 over all those other much proven ones and AJ out of top 5 ? O.K How about . 1.AJ 2. Fury 3.Hrgovic 4.Usyk 5.wilder 6.Joyce 7.DDD 8.Whyte 9.Povetkin 10.Pulev It seems we have a disabled child lost in this thread!!! Okay. I watched the Joyce, Huck fight, and a few others. He did look like Loma more than I expected or remembered. He’s a pretty ****y guy. Smug smile. But he’s is good. He kinda rubs me the wrong but that’s neither here nor there. He can sure fight though. He must have taken ten times the steps Huck did in their fight. Also forgot he was a southpaw, which makes a lot of sense. His guard is very good too. He’s also surprisingly aggressive. He can put in on someone when he wants to. I’m impressed. I’m more interested than ever at how he will preform at HW. I see ur point on the weight. Usyk being able to move all night and outwork someone seems to be a huge strength for him. Doing whatever let’s him keep that style makes the most sense to me. Course there’s always pressure even at a marketing level to add weight at HW. I still think he will be 225lbs in his next fight. But who knows how today’s circumstances will effect things. Yeah I just don’t really see the value in adding muscle, he’s never going to be a power puncher at HW so he needs to utilise his speed, agility, stamina, skill etc.

Stylistically he’s probably most similar to Lomachenko IMO, they both came through that same amateur system and have adopted a similar style. If you want better evidence for how he will likely approach fighting as a HW, I’d recommend you watch his amateur fight with Joe Joyce. It was in the WSB as well so 5 rounds with no headgear. Okay. Thanks, I’ll look it up. I really should be taking this time to deep dive on all the fighters I’m not too familiar with. I remember the Salido fight, but I like Loma more and more as an attraction. He’s smug, dismissive, but also so talented that I can appreciate it. Does what he wants. He’s also got hit more often but he’s also taken it to his opponents. The algorithm in my brain tells me not to be surprised if Loma boxes Teo’s ears off. We may pat ourselves on the back when we get it right but getting it wrong is what keeps us coming back.

I’ve only seen him fight a few times. Saw him unify. Course he only has 17 fights. He was usually the bigger taller guy at cruiser I assume. He has 13kos. So I think he does like to back up, circle, and then jump in with a combo. Tries to surprise u with his offence at times? If I’m wrong, anybody with more knowledge about his style can please chime in. When u say biggest heavies I can’t help but think Fury, Wilder, AJ. All taller and heavier than Usyk. But how much faster and slicker is he? If at all? He’s not exactly Wlad or Vitali in the power department. Helenius might be a decent fight? Or not? I’m just trying to think how good a shorter, much lighter, less experienced Usyk would have to be to really take those guys apart. I’m not saying Wilder is a great boxer, but he’s nertzed better boxers than himself. Dude looked stringy, that’s part of what’s interesting going forward. Good point on the weight... I actually think Usyk should try and maintain his weight instead of looking to add muscle. He needs to remain as elusive as possible, I also feel his activity and tempo will cause the bigger HW’s the biggest problems. I’ve only seen him fight a few times. Saw him unify. I can't see Pulev beating Povetkin or Hunter. I also think Joshua could beat Ortiz at this point. Disagree with Usyk being that high. Big fan of Hrgovic but he's a little stiff. Was picking Bakole to beat him if that fight was to happen. Usyk looked a little stringy at HW.

I see where you are coming from but I think: Ortiz still has enough left to beat B level guys like AJ. Povetkin is too old to get inside that jab, Hunter is too undersized to deal with the jab and grab.
