this would be great and we would have an undisputed lightweight champion....if my memory serves me right, the last was sweet pea whitaker.
here is the bracket
1) Vasyl Lomachenko
2)Teofimo Lopez
3)Devan Haney
4) Ricard Commey
5)Luke Campbell
6)Ryan Garcia
7)Robert Easter Jr.
8) Tank Davis
1 fights 8
2 fights 7
3 fights 6
4 fights 5
their order is based of the ring magazine rankings, davis isnt ranked so he is the last seed and also has the least fights at the weight although he holds a trinket
Yeah I think Tank could beat Loma because of the power and timing factor. Linares dropped Loma and Campbell hurt Loma to the body, this tells me Loma isn't quite comfortable at taking shots at 135... Linares and Campbell aren't real punches at 135, imo. Tank would get Loma's respect, while providing is own technical head movement and angles.
Garcia's chin is in the air at times, but I think Reynoso will make the proper changes when necessary.
I like Garcia against Lopez because I feel like Garcia's volume combo's, length and speed will be too much for him. I didn't like how Lopez responded to that tall Asian fighter. I feel Lopez is too flat footed for someone like Garcia and I'm not sure if he's comfortable fighting someone that much taller than him
watched highlights of that fight lopez had with the asian guy....looked a lil off timing wise and finding his range...i can see what you saying playing out.....personally i think Garcia and Davis have a better shot at loma than Teofimo who often throws one hard show at a time, or counters with one huge shot, rarely see him throw 3-4 punch combos and Loma wont be sitting waiting to exchange...good call
It's crazy because the scope of this tourney could change if Garcia is matched against Loma in the first round. I think Loma beats him
I think Lopez could beat Loma, but i wouldn't put money on it even though I think Garcia could beat Lopez
i think if loma faces a couple of them, he'd get upset....these guys are hungry young and explosive...they all would be competitive fights
Based off this, I have:
1. Loma
8. Tank
2. Lopez
7. Easter
3. Haney
6. Garcia
4. Commey
5. Campbell
2nd round
8. Tank
6. Garcia
2. Lopez
4. Commey
Final
No idea vs Lopez in the final
Whoever wins Tank vs Garcia, beats Lopez and wins the tourney
ooo **** you picked tank to beat Loma? he sure does have the power to...i think he'd be in the final with Teo, becuase Garcia's chin and defense hasnt been tested also his chin is higher than the statue of liberty....ko waiting to happen when he fights a top fighter who will punch with him and has a good chin
why tank over loma though?
this sure would produce some great fights
If it were like this:
1. Loma
2. Lopez
3. Tank
4. Haney
5. Garcia
6. Commey
Loma vs Commey = Loma UD
Lopez vs Garcia = Garcia SD
Tank vs Haney = Tank KO 10
We'll need to add two more names, let's reset to 8 contestants
1. Loma
2. Lopez
3. Tank
4. Haney
5. Garcia
6. Commey
7. Easter
8. Fortuna
1st round
1. Loma
8. Fortuna
2. Lopez
7. Easter
3. Tank
6. Commey
4. Haney
5. Garcia
2nd round
1. Loma
3. Tank
2. Lopez
5. Garcia
Final
3. Tank
5. Garcia
I seriously have no idea how this plays out. If I had to pick, I'd say Tank by KO or Garcia by decision.
I made an 8 man bracket what are your picks and then when a few people post i will move to the 2nd round match ups
While a lot of things can change quickly, right now you have to favor Loma.
indeed but most these guys have youth, and size on him...he'd be the favorite but i dont think he will be washing them....he is naturally smaller, is aging and his a lot more hittable versus the better opponents he has fought
these young guys wont be gun shy and frozen from missing shots like the smaller walters and others. they would take more chances...specially Teofimo and Haney
What are the seeds and matchups?
Depending on the structure of the tourney, dictates the outcome
And where's Tank?
Left tank out because he just moved up and Gamboa was shot ...I will add him and bracket the tournament
