Why is it ok for there to be a 40lb difference just cause both guys are over 200lbs? If a guy comes in even one pound over in the LW division, he is vilified.
There is zero reason to break a division. Wilder is not a huge heavyweight at all, he is not very heavy and he had been a world champ with a reign of 5 years or so?
I mean, 100 years ago Dempsey made Willard, a huge hw than, quit in his corner after 3th round.
Not at all. I went about it wrong but I'm actually for less divisons.

That's back to 8 divisions but with heavies now more regulated and weigh-ins on fight night. Today's athletes are bigger, faster and stronger. Somebody mentioned Primo Carnera, lol. That guy fought about 90 years ago.
Just an idea I had after hearing about a fighter who died in the ring. I think a lot of the guys who have died in a boxing match struggled to make weight. The dehydration weakens these guys, making blows to the head even more dangerous.
This is correct. And there are significantly less deaths at HW because the guys don't need to cut weight. Under your system, you'd have guys in the 240's boiling down to make 220
Thats not limiting the talent, you dumb shiiit.
Its turning one already weak division into multiple even weaker divisions. Now die a miserable death you worthless waste of life.
Fine. Then explain why a guy who weighs 148 is too big and its unfair for him to fight at 147.
Who actually said that? There is nothing really unfair about a 147 guy fighting a 148 guy. It's just the concept of title fights within a weightclass dictates that you have to come in under a certain weight limit.
Up and coming fighters often fight at random weights and also often fight against guys who might be heavier or lighter than them.

- -Blows to U noggin make U Dumbo?
Most people want to watch the biggest guys compete. If we make another category then no one would watch the HW as much as they would with the super HW. This is why cruiserweight suffers as much, and the reason why most of the top name at cruiser always end up moving into the HW division.
We are talking about the heavyweight division in this thread. Not lightweights. I also think there should only be the original 8 weight classes if u wanna break it down that far which leaves more room . The david vs goliath aspect has applied to the heavyweight division since the beginning . Men were just smaller by stature . Why take away that intrigue from boxings premiere weight division ?? To each their own but I say why fix something that has brought great intrigue to the division since the beginning . If boxers are in this for safety they are in the wrong sport . Men in their 170s were fighting carnera back in the day an even bigger disparity. They put the cruiser division to fix this , no more measures are needed IMO .
Fu ck David and Goliath. There is no intrigue when a one guy is 40lbs bigger. That's just stupid.
so you want to water down the sport some more?
Not at all. I went about it wrong but I'm actually for less divisons.

if anything they would just move Cruiserweight up more like they did last time.
but no. leave it. If anything, it should only be the original 8 glamour divisions, with the newer "in between divisions" for special circumstances (ie: Middleweight Champion of the world fights Light Heavyweight Champion of the world at 168)
If indeed they did seperate the division, into hw and shw well say at 230lbs., What would they call the superheavyweight champion of the world? The badder man on the planet? Albeit the hw champ is universally known as the "baddest man" on the planet.
The Biggest Baddest Man on the Planet :boxing:

None of this addresses why a 136lb guy CAN'T fight a 135lb guy though, but its completely ok to match up HW's who weigh 30 or 40 poinds apart. Where is the David VS Goliath mentality then?
