That’s Khan’s MO. He looks good early and has the hand speed to throw fighters off.
Unfortunately any elite fighter eventually adjusts to his timing and he doesn’t have the power to keep them honest.
Maidana, Danny Garcia, and Canelo all timed him up and two in of them brutally knocked him out.
The speed Amir Khan was able to function at, was just too much for Canelo Alvarez 'There was nothing much he could do, accept time a good power punch etc'
Khan did better than most thought so he gets the extra credit.
No different than Brook getting credit for the GGG fight.
The outcome is the only thing that matters. If any of those guys rematched they would loose even worst the next time.
No but the speed is way different.
This. Handspeed, footspeed. Reaction times even seem to be slightly better. The combination of those things means the lighter fighters are able to do certain things that heavier fighters can't, as you move up the scale.
Ali was a heavyweight (more like a cruiser these days), but that's why they people lost their minds over how he "moved like a middleweight".
Canelo's got a great ****ing skillset though, it's favours him to sit at the higher weights. As he's too hard to catch clean, and he's a sharp counter puncher.
I had Canelo up at the time of the KO. He was pretty obviously beating Khan's ass by that point, too. He let Khan get his couple of rounds of flashy speed in and then it was Alvarez all the way.
He was beating him, but that’s because Canelo was basically just baiting him and gauging his movements, and then kaboom.
But that was an easy fight for Canelo.
Khan, Kirkland, JCC, Liam, fielding, kovalev, angulo...all easy fights.
fixed it for you

Yep, he was studying Khan. Timing him, setting traps and when time came he unload.
Its too bad, It Khan wasn't chinny he would be the greatest WW ever to come out of the UK, Canelo was just waiting for him to slip up.I don't agree with that. Even an iron jawed Khan would still have flaws that would keep him from being the best ever UK welterweight by a long shot. He had some close fights and lost lots of rounds to some very average boxers who never hurt him. He just had a hard time figuring them out and dominating them with skillful smart boxing. he had very fast hands but his punches were not that accurate or that hard and he made mistakes and was not hard to hit. he had some good fights and some poor fights. he was not a master boxer with a high ring IQ. The UK has better boxers than Khan at or near 147 right now. khan did his best fighting at 140 when trained by Roach.
I gave him the first 2 rounds, after that Canelo figure him outI did not give Khan any rounds. i think two possible reasons some said Khan was winning. First he had a very loyal fan club that gave him much more credit than he was due. Second, sometimes when a huge underdog like Khan was against Canelo does better than expected some say he won close rounds that he actually lost.
It's hard for me to pretend a lhw clenelo is unbeatable when lil Floyd manhandled him, and Khan out boxed him 4-5 rounds...
Is the higher weight classes skill that far from the ww, jmw classes
I think Canelo started getting to him by the 3rd round, once he got adjusted to Khan's rapid-fire flurries.
And Khan won no more than 2 or 3 rounds in that fight.
It was clear Canelos plan was to land something big from the start. His output was never high and he did nothing but stalk Khan.
And it worked. End of story.
Definitely one of the most dangerous KOs I can remember, Jesus
You're right. Khan was out before he hit the floor and lay there with his eyes open, not moving as if he was paralyzed.
Canelo was shook himself, had to kneel down and see how Khan was.
What difference does it make? If Khan had won every second of every round before the KO, the outcome is still the same. Alvarez was just waiting for Khan to make a mistake and Khan always makes mistakes.

Because he was sticking and moving.
Canelo was never looking to box Khan anyways. His team and he knew Khan had no chin. So he wasn't even trying to make it a fight. He was looking for the one punch the entire time Khan was dancing. So, he lost rounds but it was according to plan.
Sacrifice some rounds to win with one big punch and he did just that. Canelo wasn't looking to do anything else besides wind up and hit him one good time and leave him slept.
I gave him the first 2 rounds, after that Canelo figure him out
I don’t know either. Bunch of useless movements and pitty pat punches but people here esp fans are claiming he was putting on a masterclass loool.
He wasn’t setting him up with his feints or anything.
But yep hell of a cherrypick by Nelo to avoid GGG at that time.
