No dis to the diva but Roy dominates at all these weights.
There's levels to this game and Canelo is a very good fighter but Roy is a great one.
Now if the diva can do his catch weight thing, who knows. :D
Seems like for Canelo it would almost be like fighting Floyd, except Floyd would be as big and heavy as Canelo is .... but still with the skills and speed.
Pre-Tarver RJJ would beat Canelo up, at all those weights. I certainly would watch the fights though.
What are you talking about... RJJ and Toney are documented cases, and the fact is, there was no OST or cutoff dates in Toney or RJJ’s time. Only post fight urine tests which they failed. All athletes have different penalties and all banned substances have different measures and circumstances. Anabolic steroids are the defacto and old school PEDS... the ones RJJ and Toney got caught for, in a post fight urine test...
The question was who would win Canelo vs Jones Jr.
Not who had the worst cases of cheating. ( whole other topic)
If u gonna respond back with a paragraph avoiding the question. Keep it to yourself G. Lmao
Advanced Drug Testing nor random blood and urine with cutoffs dates existed in RJJ's time...
Why cant u just answer the question..... Lmao.
U know as well as i do.... Canelo's failed drug tests will be brought up. When you coulda just answered the question.......lmao
RJJ at his best was the greatest fighter of his era and still for me by a wide margin the best since Sugar Ray Leonard. Floyd and Manny were great, but peak Roy Jones did everything better than either of them, he really was the full package and an almost perfect fighting machine.
Canelo is excellent but i think prime Jones beats prime Canelo at any weight. Of course I thought very old GGG deserved to win both of his close fights with the 8 year younger prime Canelo.
Lol. Journalism in those days in an era of no advanced testing. Naiveness comes a long way. MMA business copied boxing. They were delayed to not see that boxing would become more strict. The fight game business originates in boxing. 80’s-to early 90s Golden era of PEDS in boxing. Mid90’s to 2010 golden era for PEDS in MMA. It got so obvious and out of hand the UFC had to contract with USADA by force or no show.If 24/7 had been available and mandated in full use the last 10 years, boxing would have been so much better off. Hats off to Nonito Donaire for adopting 24/7.
RJJ had anabolic steroids and yet was still caught in an era of non OST (advanced drug testing).Jones tested positive once over what he claims as the result of over-the-counter Ripped Fuel sold at GNC and never tested positive before or after that in his 32 fights since. His opponent at that time, Richard Hall, also tested positive for the same thing.
RJJ had anabolic steroids and yet was still caught in an era of non OST (advanced drug testing).
So they've both failed the same amount of drug tests then?
Canelo reminds me of a not quite as good version of RJJ...which is still really really good obviously.
Only thing Canelo has on him off the top of my head is a better chin...and who knows how much those weight jumps affected Roy there as well...having the better chin by a considerable margin, if true, is a big edge though.
I really have no idea how it would go H2H...hard to compare eras sometimes...I would pick RJJ over just about anyone all-time at 160 and 168 though.
