Was just thinking about ways to improve the forum
One I thought of was trying to get some fighters - past or present, or other figures (judges/refs/promoters...ring girls :) here on the forum periodically for some Q and As.
I would think the mods and site owners would like it as well as it would drive traffic and maybe bring some new eyes in to stay.
I think it would also help lead to better boxing discussions on here...as people around the sport have some good insights usually, and can critique their peers better and more accurately generally than the average poster on here...maybe that could rub off on some here.
Maybe a once a week Q and A?
Any other ideas?
I was happy to see motorcitycobra get banned which eliminated most of the PBC shilling now hopefully youngbidness aka frankie2jabs can get banned which would eliminate most of the DAZN shilling and dumb spam threads.
I can add two names to that: BangEm and ShaneMoselySr.
The idea of giving the forum more color and other functions is good. Personally, I enjoy this bland, simple format.
I have grown to like the posters on here, even the 'crazy' ones...but the main reason I like the site is because of their good and timely display of boxing articles...so part of me really likes the format as well.
I think there are a lot of good things with the design so I wouldn't really want it to change too much.
Subbing just because I'm a mod, care about the site, care about boxing, and box.
Will read through this and see what I can do over the next week.
Very cool thanks man...I think we had some good ideas here but not sure if anything was too profound yet either...thanks for giving it a look though and let us know your thoughts man!!
I think a lot of good ideas were discussed in here...I think a lot of the stuff we mentioned though would need a bit of help from the mods.

Posters can’t/shouldn’t be able to make more than a certain numbers (Say 5 for example) of threads each month.
This right here, especially the ones that are about a specific figher!!!!!!
That's a very good idea. I jointed this site when I moved and no longer had any boxing fans to talk to. I didn't really follow the politics much, and was blown away that most of the threads are about the politics, purse splits, etc. etc.
True, I mean you cant totally take promotional companies and certain politics out of boxing talk but arguing over Hearn, Arum, and Haymon is funny considering none of them put gloves on or entertain us.
Make a separate forum for the Promotional fans. The reason I started posting on the lounge more is because you cant even talk boxing on NSB. Its all about promotional companies.

Strange we don't see much TR or GBP shilling anymore. Did those guys get banned?

#1, I think there should be a public vote to kick posts based on a thumbs down system. The rest should take care of itself.
You asked ways to improve the site. What does the data say so far?

It used to be a Post your photo thread years ago... It's funny when the guys called me a fat ugly dude. When some guys know how i look lol. But we should bring it back im curious to see how certain guys look
Yeah I would enjoy that and hate it all at once...and tbh I wouldn't want to post my personal info on here so can't blame someone else if they didn't want to do it...some people on here act so nasty and small though so I would just love to see how my image of them stacks up to what they really are.
I live about 10 minutes drive away from him, man, used to live right round the corner from where the Hatton Gym is now. Drop in if you ever find yourself over this side of the pond.:lol1:
For sure. Thanks bro.
Get rid of that ignore feature. You get melts on here starting a thread, hitting ignore on every opposing opinion and then responding to the same people who can no longer contribute.
In fact, keep ignore and just ban those kyyyyunts.
With the exception of the occasional racism, I really enjoy my read on these boards. The forum could probably do with a facelift, VB is a little 2010 but it's not overly cumbersome and nobody really likes change initially anyway. There are posters i've learned to simply take almost no notice of and there are others who i'll happily read every single post from. For the vast majority, providing you aren't an ******* to begin with, I see very little unwarranted aggro. (exceptions always exist :D)
If I could make one suggestion though, it would probably be to lock threads after 30 days of having no new activity (on NSB only). I know this is sometimes an unpopular choice but from my experience at least, it can make for a cleaner forum. For example you see 17 page threads being dug up and this immediately starts taking the attention away from current events and talking points. The thread is very often revived by somebody trying to troll or incite an argument of some kind. It's not a huge deal, just something i've noticed.
Funny thing is on here, mostly if you can get past all the ego and bullchit and have the patience not to rise to every stupid bait, you find that pretty much everyone on here has something to add and is passionate about the sport - it's just about finding a way to tap into that and get folk to put aside the factionalism. Problem is it takes work and it takes patience and I get that most of us just come here to chill relax and talk some bullchit... last thing we wanna do is work, but I reckon a bit of graft is exactly what it'll take. It's down to those who have the time or the will to put up the good threads, talk the boxing and the rest of us to support those threads and participate in 'em - show what we want.
Thing is it doesn't actually take a lot -say most of us obsessive motherfuckers are on here at least browsing an hour or more a day... maybe spend at least half an hour actually writing some ish. But if every one of us just spent 10 or 15 minutes of that time putting up a prospect thread or an analysis of a lesser known but exemplary fight some ish like that this place would quickly turn around I reckon- or at least be much improved.
Just takes the elbow grease, man, putting in the time - and persistence. And even if it didn't change the overall tone of the forum at all, what you lost?
