Just rewatched the fight again and noticed that by round 7 Fury's speed and punch output had dropped quite a bit, but so had Wilder's of course. In the Wladimir fight, Fury slowed down and Wlad started to have some success later in the fight. Been a while since i seen it but i recall in the Ruiz rematch, AJ was still dancing around in the 12th round, light on his feet..
Now I'm wondering what happens if that AJ vs Fury fight gets to the latter rounds.. Could AJ have more left in the tank and potentially stop Fury late like he did Wlad or does Fury outbox with slippery skills, or even go for a ko himself? How you think it plays out that fight?
I agree mulako, it's definitely a more taxing fight strategy. but im guessing he had an inkling this one wasn't going twelve once he knocked wilder down the first time. He saw how wilders balance was affected from that point onwards.
That would be my thinking
Fury has gone 12 loads of times without breaking a sweat.
AJ had it easy because Ruiz never trained, so all AJ had to do was move around. AJ gets gassed once he gets pressured or has to work, as we’ve seen.
Fury will gas AJ out and stop him in 6 or 7 rounds.
I’m pretty sure that by putting more into his punches , that took more fuel so it’s kind of normal that he slows down
Just common sense
Mind you , it worked wonders

I will say if you are referring to the second fight fury choose to sit down on his punches and plant his feet more giving the illusion of being slower but more power etc.

Compared to the respective first fights:
Fury gained weight - on purpose - to be able to walk Wilder down. That decreased his speed.
Joshua lost weight - on purpose - to be able to dance around Ruiz. That increased his speed.
(A bit simplified, I know, but that is the core of it).

Knowing that Ruiz didn’t do ***** to train for the second fight makes it extremely difficult to gauge Joshua. I would of loved to see the Ruiz of the first fight against Joshua of the second fight.
We don't know why Fury slowed. It is a 12 round fight and he was dominating Wilder.
Things a fighter would consider is not getting clipped, that their opponent will tire, and having enough left in the tank.
I would bet my money on Joshua gassing before Fury. Love or hate Fury, he knows how to fight. He has more tools in his box to change up the pace and catch breathers in the clinch.
