Hear me out.
This fight makes more financial and historical sense to stage it in the U.S., specifically Las Vegas. I don't care how many screaming Brits you can squeeze into a stadium over there, this fight will carry more historical significance if you stage it in the states. The Brits will travel to Vegas anyways and pack the house.
Fury has remained true to his nickname by traveling and conquering the US with his mega fights with Wilder. He's close to being a household name here and eclipsing Canelo as the biggest foreign boxer. AJ failed miserably but this is his shot at redemption and a win would propel him to global super stardom. Also, it's really in Fury's best interest to bring it here. I know he's from across the pond but it seems like Hearn would use all of his pull to favor everything in AJ's favor if they make it a domestic clash.
What says you?
AJ is a fkn coward, can't believe you people still mention his name when fury or even the bum wilder is mentioned. The dude is fighting 50 year old eastern Europeans...and it's always the same excuse from AJ fan boys...but but but he has to fight his mandatories :lol1:
Doesn’t make much difference to me, since I’d be watching it on tv wherever it ends up...but undisputed hw title fight between 2 brits, kinda has to be in the uk.
Yeah I suppose. This fight would be electric if it were in Vegas and everybody media outlet here would cover it. Meh, guess the heavyweight title fights will be held in the UK for a few years.
Any Fury fight outside of Joshua and Whyte would be held in the US. That's clearly where he intends to build his brand.
Sadly I do expect the fight to happen in the UK. It sucks having to tune in at 4pm for a fight when we're accustomed to fight nights in prime time. We're spoiled like that.
But this is their fight and their moment. It's theirs. Let them have it. That's all there is to it really.

I get where you're going with that lol. Pretty cheap. $25 roughly, But then in some other Euro nations it was around $60. It obviously varies significantly from place to place.
Milking more money out of a fight does not automatically make it bigger or more important to boxing fans and the general public anyway. The only people who should be hung up on how much money is being generated by fights are the promoters.
haha no my dude, I was genuinely curious how much they cost. No I think many of you have made some pretty valid points that has me rethinking this.
No AJ's last fight was £25
Yeah fair point, I forgot that the price was slightly increased.
Also there's no way this can be veiwed as a "domestic bout" it for all of the WORLD titles FFS.
Agreed. Spence/Crawford would be much more of a "domestic" fight than a UK based AJ/Fury fight in terms of international interest lol. The only people that are going to be less inclined to watch AJ/Fury if it doesnt take place in America, are Americans themselves. Its America is the world syndrome pretty much.
I suspect AJ/Fury happens in Saudi...... I am sure they will offer up some ridiculous fee that no one can turn down.
I also don't think is does good enough numbers in the US to rival a Saudi offer.

Fair points.
How much do the UK PPVs go for by the way?
No AJ's last fight was £25 which is about $32.5 at over 1.5 mill UK buys worked out as roughly $48,750,000. Not bad for fighting Ruiz.
Sticking this in Vegas is going to destroy UK buys as it'll be at 5am. I'd be suprised if it does good PPV numbers in the US to recover this because they don't even have a horse in the race.
They could hike the price at wembley to average the ticket price at £200 - £300 and generate a higher gate ($23.4 mil -$35.1 mil) than the record that was just set in vegas by Wilder and Fury ($16.9 mil).
Even Saudi is better as it won't damage the largest source of PPV income and would probably offer the largest site fee considering rumours got up to the 80 mil mark for AJ Ruiz rematch so it wouldn't be surprising if they actually got that level of money for a much more significant fight.

Yep. Fury/AJ will very likely do significantly less PPV buys in the US than Fury/Wilder 2 did (and its not like 800k is earth shattering in the first place). Fury might be hot in the US right now but if theres not a big name American in the mix I think this renewed US interest in the division is going to be short lived. Put that fight in the UK you could seriously be looking at 2 million domestic buys + its on PPV in plenty of other places in Europe while being on at a relatively convenient time.

How many of those fights involved neither an American or a Mexican?
By the looks only 1 fight has ever been PPV and wasn't in Vegas it was in Dallas. Pacquiao-Clottey. Pacquiao was a massive star in the US at the time. Two Brits won't do great numbers in the US.

The two champs are British. The first ever match of it's type between two Britons. The fight should be in Britain.
I'm not the most patriotic person but let us have our moment.

I don't think there have been two Brits as big as AJ and Fury to make such a fight though.
Why are Americans so salty on Hearn?
All he does is try to.make.big fights.
Is it because of Wilder's lies?
Wilder's character has been.exposed more than his s**t boxing, surely it's clear to anyone who the liar always.has been.
I think it should be in.Wembley, London England, home of where boxing was invented.
But if money is more important than fans, Saudi may get it, which sucks - Vegas would be a great venue too like.
If it's on the moon - I'm going.
What's the highest selling PPV for a fight involving neither an American or Mexican in the US?
I'm assuming Pacquiao VS Hatton? Which was staged in Las Vegas.
Depends on both camps to be honest. The mentality that it is bigger in US would have to be backed with stats. Otherwise both boxers would go where the money is.
Do you really need stats to realize that the biggest boxing events, financially and historically, have all happened in Vegas in the past 30 or so years?
Google where the most successful fights have all happened.
