Zero leverage, he has 30 days to exercise his right to a rematch.
There is no step aside money or a chance to fight the winner afterwards.
If anything, he'll be doing Fury and AJ a favor by exercising the rematch clause. Because it will give Fury another good win in a high profile fight, and allow Joshua a chance to get a good win against Pulev.
If Fury and AJ happens this summer, it will probably be too soon to promote it right. Both guys will use their next fights to hype up & promote their eventual undisputed fight.
I'm wondering how much leverage Deontay Wilder has right now, if AJ - Fury is worth more than the rematch, Wilder could demand a piece for stepping down on the immediate rematch, and maybe get a contractual fight against the winner.

Boxing pays better than WWE.
How many caravans do you think Fury wants?
And only the very top fighters earn more.
How much did Fury get paid last time?
And didn't Fury give his entire pay check for the first Wilder fight away?
Fury is not a money man.

AJ vs Fury fighting in England would be so damn big, I can't imagine passing it up. If I'm dreaming, I picture Fury fighting and beating AJ, then for his first undisputed defense he takes on Usyk and wins. Then he retires undefeated and on top.
How likely is that?
If he beats AJ and then fights Usyk, it would be the undefeated/undisputed Heavyweight champion vs the undefeated/undisputed Cruiserweight champion.
I still think Joshua has a good chance against fury. He is fundamentally a much better boxer than wilder and has a decent punch (even if arguably not as powerful as wilder).
Fury has struggled in fights before, he could easily have lost his warm up fight - in my opinion the cut should have stopped the fight.
He could also easily have lost to Klitschko, despite the ranting and raving it really wasn’t as clear cut victory as has been exaggerated over time.
I really hope we do get to see fury fight multiple opponents because if he only fights Joshua then retires then for me he can never be considered an all time great after beating only three opponents.
For me he needs to take on some of the top10 like Whyte for example - I’m sure he will do too because that would be a huge money uk fight regardless.
If he retires in next 2-3 years, very likely. Nobody of that cats that are in game right now can beat Tyson. Guys like Ajagba and Dubois are too green. Joyce lacks experience in pro boxing.
Parker and Usyk are well skilled, but question is, what can they do when Fury starts mauling them?
I can't say of course, but, I certainly would like Fury and Joshua to fight next. Even with Wilder looking for a rematch, that can happen after undisputed.
Not just to get undisputed but because it is the first time since the 1850s where the two champions seeking unification are both British. America has a ****load of them, Brits got undisputeds but Bob and Lennox both danced with Americans for the big fights, Fury-Joshua would be the first time in boxing history undisputed unification was decided by Brits alone. I would like to congratulate that when it happens.
If he retired unbeaten he'd be the first HW boxer to retire unbeaten. Okay that sounds stupid juxta to Rock in my avatar but what I mean is Tyson's not a puncher most of his career, if he goes back to boxing or mostly boxes it wouldn't really be fair to call him a puncher either. Marciano was a puncher, the ten prior from bare knuckle and ancient pygmachia also punchers.
What does it say about boxing if pure boxing got Fury almost KO'd while punching made him look like an unbeatable king and the only man to retire unbeaten prior to him was a pure puncher?
Dethroned the decade long champion Klitschko and stole his lineal honors.
Survived the KO artist with a perfect record of having KO'd every man he faced.
Knocked out the HW champion with the highest KO% of all time.
Became the first two time Ring champion.
Has won every major sanctioning belt.
Could become the winner and undisputed champion in a historic all British event.
Could become the second undefeated HW champion in gloved boxing history period.
Fury's done quite well for himself. I hope he can continue and doesn't balloon.
I’d like to see it next as it is probably the biggest fight in British history.
However due to Wilder’s rematch clause and AJ’s mandatory situation I just don’t see it happening next.

THats the only thing that is significant that possibly two British fighters control the mantle so far. But you're over hyping the hell out of fury now, and all the shine is being taken out of canelo and is being disrespected again as the #1 p4p fighter right now. Canelo has done all of that of what you said and fury has actually taken time off. If anything, fury is just getting started
Just like it's a winning long term bet a big name that retires under 35 comes back to fight again most guys will lose eventually. I'll take the over on Fury's last fight being 2 or 3 fights away as he said & I'll take the over on his L's number being 0.
Fury got a big money WWE contract waiting for him.
He won't need to come back for the money.
If he fights on to become older he MAY resort to staying on his feet still. In this case his defensive savvy will continue to be slippery and elusive. Just because he plants more on his legs doesn't mean that his defence diminishes. To put it simply he's hard to hit. Someone already said this but he's just getting started. The best age for a hw is 30, he is only 31.
