It looked to me like there was a chance that Deontay had a cracked jaw and possibly a ruptured ear drum.
Do any of you know what extent his true injuries are?
If so, throw us a source please.
Looking forward to know what, if anything is wrong. That will change the timing of their trilogy if it happens, I would think.
Discuss please
I perforated my eardrum playing football (soccer). I played the whole game. It hurt a bit and I don’t remember feeling unbalanced.
It also didn’t look like the fresh blood that was coming out of Wilder’s ear. It was pinkish fluid. So a dot of blood and whatever else is that eardrum.
My hearing in that ear is poor though.
My guess is most boxers have perforated both ear drums. It didn’t take hardly any contact. My head/ear just ended pressed up against someone’s arm like bump.
I think everyone has glass ears tbh.
Ears are s.hit. Tiny blood vessels, tiny bones.
Even if Wilder did get an injury like that I doubt he’d particularly notice
No he didn't, Deas and Finkel have confirmed he did not.
Deontay Wilder ultimately did not need to go the hospital though it had been announced he would. He did not have an eardrum problem but got a few stitches for a cut inside his ear, Wilder co-manager Shelly Finkel tells ESPN. Wilder was examined and... https://t.co/yZfx6X0Cgo— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) February 23, 2020
Appreciate the info
Yea that's what it looked like to me too. Towards the back of the head. Lotsa similarities to the AJ loss. Same shot, never really got back into the fight (although I think AJ did a better job of it), both out in the 7th & both looked like they were done & ready to quit but neither officially quit.
I heard on Twitter that Deontay didn't even go to the hospital as reported (#fakenews) he just got looked at & stitched up in the locker room. Not sure if that's 100% legit but haven't seen anyone confirm he went to the hospital after the initial news or was released so I suspect that's more on point then the early reports.
The jaw stuff seemed overhyped to me. No sh^t he's swole up. He's in a fooking fight. It didn't look like I'd expect a broken jaw or close to it injury to look. The blood he was spitting out was the only thing that seemed like it could indicate a more serious injury to his jaw to me.
That’s odd af that he wasn’t required to go to the hospital, for NSAC liability if nothing else. That’s why I was asking, haven’t found any reports of what happened. If my ear was bleeding the way DW was...I’m gonna make that trip to the ER
Apparently not.
Here's the proof:
:beerchug:
Doesnt sound like he had any injuries before fight. Fury just made him look bad.
Although wilder looked in bad way after fight im not surprised he's ok. Fury didn't land a lot, a lot missed it got a bit messy in there with wrestling

Yeah. The injuries weren't serious.
sHe got his ass kicked, probably has a broken ego
If you look at wilder's previous fights, he does often get winded. The assumption was, as is often the case, that the extra weight would benefit him. I always question this logic. It worked for Fury but it had me spooked a bit when Fury showed up with his shirt on... Fury did make it work, and to me this is rare.
Wilder might be in a situation where he fights better at his lower fighting weight. If I was training heavyweights I swear, I would want them in light as possible.
People look but they often do not see Larry... When i lived in a Buddhist Monastery my Dharma brother (the person that laces you up) was making a point to me: He said when people drive, they often "see" a cyclist, but they do not respond to the cyclist, they are not really seeing the cyclist at all and still have an accident.
With Wilder did his team "look?" Did they see him getting winded in fights? Having to just back off a while, lose rounds, etc? Did they think Fury would just let Wilder catch his wind? Wilder does not even understand how to fight off his back foot. Teach him how to do that instead of putting more weight on his frame. The weight looked good, but I have my doubts.
Guys like Haye, other ambush fighters start their attacks all the way from the other side of the ring. Wilder has to stand in front and measure his man. He gets hit way too easily. He always loses rounds, he was losing to Ortiz... Twice.
If i was his trainer I would have him learning how to use his back leg...at the very least.

No doubt about that! That’ll take a minute to try and rebuild, if it’s possible for him to overcome it. He seems like he has strong mental fortitude so his chances are better than average I’d like to think
I give 100% credit to Fury for defeating Wilder. No matter what, yesterday was going to be Fury's night.
Based on his performance last night, I'm inclined to believe something was wrong with Wilder before the fight.
Pre-fight injury? Sick? Mental exhaustion?
He mentioned something about his leg?
Wilder in round 2 was already gassed, in no way looked like the Wilder who fought Fury in the first bout.
My 2 cents :beerchug:
Is this the heaviest he has been?
What’s up Siablo! It looked a like a lot more than just a small cut in the ear. Also it appeared to be a heavy leak from the inside. I don’t even see how the glove wrap or laces could’ve made a cut on the interior of his ear. His balance is usually always kinda suspect, but he looked way off after the knockdown and ear issue. Like his equilibrium was affected
What's up, NC. He got hit in the same spot as Joshua did. Joshua never got back his legs either.
Probably just hubris.
Maybe :beerchug:
Wilder is always gassed. In every single fight, he gets gassed, and looks wobbly on his feet. This just the first time you seen a bigger man leaning on him, and wrangling him, which quickened the process. Nothing was wrong with Wilder, he make mistakes, and Fury really doesnt. After while, Wilder was a sitting duck, their to eat punches.
Makes sense, this very well could be what happened :beerchug:
