Jay Deas stupid ass disagreed with Mark Breland throwing the towel in. Now, I'm hearing Wilder fanboys are petitioning to have Breland fired. Bruh, Wilder got dropped by a body shot that didn't even hurt him, and had to hold himself up on the ropes, after he lost his balance on his own. His equilibrium was compromised after the 1st knockdown, and it wasn't long before he could hardly defend himself. Breland saved that man from becoming a body on Fury's record.
Criticism of the stoppage is ludicrous. Wilder was done and had zero chance of anything other than further punishment. Those hail mary punches weren't going to land and if they did I don't think they had anywhere near his normal force.
In any case if the corner hadn't taken action Bayless was very close to it and had been for some time.
That's why you need guy like that in your corner. Wilder needs to change his camp regardless. Imagine what he would look like if he was a Kronk fighter. Haven't really seen any improvement with him over the years. He may want to get a former Heavyweight as his trainer.
Breland came up through the Kronk system though, would he learn anything else there? In any case I think most would agree Breland is a very canny guy and you could see that when he fought, but if Wilder won't listen to him as Mark has said, then what can he do?
Wilder's 34 and has been a limited boxer for the duration of his career. He's not going to become a radically different fighter or add lots of new skills at this time of his career.
It should have been stopped earlier but Mark Breland did a great job trying to save his guy.
Jay Deas on the other hand.... If he cannot recognize his own fighter is in serious trouble when his blood is being sprayed out into the crowd then he has no place in boxing. We don't need people like that in the sport.
that Jay Deas guy reminds me of those 2 clowns used to be in Tysons corner, Rory or whoever.
Anyways, Breland was spot on. Wilder was done. Good call.
And from the 4th round on, I was half expecting Fury's corner to invoke Manny Steward and yell "you got a dead man in front of you!!!!!!!!"
Crazy. From a fan's perspective I guess the end could have been more spectacular, but it was the exact scenario where a guy gets badly hurt. Taking heavy shot after heavy shot, but the shots are never big enough to put him out. Extremely dangerous situation and any trainer should do what Breland did.
Agree! Just Like in the first fight Jack Reiss, Paulie Mallinagi and Floyd Mayweather did nothing wrong but fans attacked them which to me hurt Wilder because all the Suck Up and Ass Kissing towards him from Fans and people around him made him not try to Improve...better yet ACQUIRE BOXING SKILLS
Too late in life to try and become Mayweather or whoever so that is never going to happen but he could've added more to his game like adding more punches than just that loaded up Right Hand. Wilder literally has MAYBE 3 Punches in his Arsenal: Jab, Load Up On The Straight Right and Wild Left Hook.
For Wilder, leave Alabama for one when training, add a more experienced Trainer (Manny Robles, Derrick James, Ronnie Shields...) look for a guy that can work with his style and help him add more to it. Also too...BULK UP why in the F#CK is he still so lean especially his Legs. Wilder need to come in 250 vs Fury looking for the kill early! Instead last night he was backing up early which nobody expected to happen. Fury was right in front of him and he couldn't pull the trigger at all
I don't know why Breland is only the co-trainer. Imagine if Wilder was with Breland only and actually listened to him and implemented what he said. I recall Mark himself saying that Wilder didn't really listen to him or anyone though and I imagine just did his own thing as the yes men around him hyped him up further.
That's why you need guy like that in your corner. Wilder needs to change his camp regardless. Imagine what he would look like if he was a Kronk fighter. Haven't really seen any improvement with him over the years. He may want to get a former Heavyweight as his trainer.
Breland handled that corner like a professional.
I don't know what Jay Deas brings to the table, honestly.
Wilder and Breland should get with Eddy Reynoso and re-tool.
Breland made the right choice. I think the injury to his ear was a serious problem he didn’t have him legs under him after.
Mark Breland did the right thing. He allows wilder to say he wasn’t out yet and could have continued. I think it’s a perfect stoppage.
Breland cared about saving his fighter's career and his long-term health.
Deas is the one who should be fired for this. Telling Wilder what he wants to hear instead of what he needs to hear.
