Toney, clearly and easily. Canelo lost to GGG. Toney would have clowned GGG. Toney had some legit, ATG abilities. His inside fighting was insanely good. How is this even a question?

Canelo has struggled versus good defenders and toney was one of the best. I would pick toney via UD . He would outwork canelo down the last stretch his stamina is way better and punches better in combination, also toney would counter him.all night up until that point . Canelo would have to try and pot shot and work the body on the inside. I doubt canelo could win this fight but damn he would make it good .

Where does Toney agree he lost the fight? It was a close fight but not a clear win for Tiberi. Tiberi got visibly rocked more, got a point deduction for low blows and the rds were give and take depending what you were looking for. Are you referring to Dave Tiberi? Because that wasn't his last fight at Middleweight and he absolutely DID lose that fight which James Toney openly admits himself. He lost that fight clearly. He did not beat Sosa soundly at all. There was nothing "sound" about that fight he racked up and early lead and was outworked down the stretch and you could easily argue he lost. James Toney at 160 lost to Dave Tiberi and arguably lost to Sanderline Williams and Merqui Sosa and got a gift against Reggie Johnson. Toney's only impressive win at 160 was Micheal Nunn and that was a fight he was getting schooled in for the vast majority of it. He could easily lose to both Canelo and GGG. Great fight, I lean towards Toney by close, but clear decision. I think Toney is the more skilled fighter, but people thinking he walks through Canelo are crazy. People are underestimating Canelo's skills. Canelo likely won't win, but he'll make it a hard fight for Toney.

Sounds a lot like James Toney. I confess I haven't seen a ton of Toney fights...but yeah I more or less agree with you on that as well for Toney, based on the few fights of his I have seen, and the clips of him. I think it would be a pretty even match up

Incredible fight, haven't even thought of it as a fantasy match but man, that would have been a sight to see. Two elites going at it, with fantastic movement and counters. Both had some great combinations and early 90's Toney's handspeed was something else

A focused Toney is an ATG. Problem with Toney is Toney, only reason he got beat. Toney is a level above Canelo. Toney beats both Triple G and Canelo at 160. the bold is basically my issue in every Canelo fight...he does enough good stuff to get a lot of credit, but in general isn't active enough for me in most fights to really dominate as much as some suggest. Unfortunately if Canelo fought anyone...you would have a contingent of his fans who would see his work and give him the rounds, and if the fights are in Vegas, Canelo likely wins. Straight up though...I think Toney-Canelo is a great fight though...I would have that one as pretty even...Canelo a bit more polished than Toney but Toney a bit more rugged and probably more active...great great fight. Sounds a lot like James Toney.

probably be one of those fights id watch over and over because of the skill and violence level like barrera vs marquez, toney v mccallum I was gonna compare it to Toney-McCallum myself, it would be one of those technical wars.
