I don't expect to ever see these two fight. They should fight and in the good old days they might fight but in today's boxing I doubt they will fight. One name one champion? In which one of the 17 divisions of boxing is that true? None. Not since Crawford and Usyk did it .
everybody hates marinating but this matchup needs to marinate for 1-2 more years.
The issue is the bigger these two guys get in popularity it’ll probably become even harder to get made. Neither promoter will want to risk losing their new cash cow right away. Boxing is a difficult sport to be a follower of a lot of the time since we always have to wait so long to see the best fights & I just wish that would change.
Devin trying to get Ryan before Ryan surpasses him on every level. Ryan and Devin fight is a mega fight in a year or two.
I don't want to see this fight now , like you said let both guys accomplish more , get more coverage then in 2 years you have a mega fight on your hands. When Tito & Oscar fought they had 35 & 31 fights both had big fights and won title priors. No need to see this fight now.
The fight should happen within the next year since it gets beyond old hearing about wanting to marinate fights. So many fights never get made that we want to see until years after they should have happened already. It becomes boring seeing mismatches being made 90% of the time. I hope Haney & his dad are telling the truth of moving up to 140 to send a message if the fight doesn’t get made in the near future so we can’t have this stuff happen yet again for the next generation of top fighters all avoiding each other too.
Hopkins trying to use that NLP lol. trying to slow the roll... I like Haney because he truly wants to fight. that is an admirable quality. I think his dad would do him a favor if he sort of came over to Hopkins point of view...Not that it is right, or wrong, but because that is what Haney is going to be dealing with.
You cannot just hunt for scalps. Your sincerity alone could scare others. How good is Haney? I don't know... But here is what I do know: this kid does not give two s hits about undefeated records, he wants to fight today and yesterday. He will get good if he can fight a lot.
hopkins is trying to inject some wisdom along with his own self interest. It may not be what the kid wants to hear but it should be easy enough for him to catch another one in the ring and then ask Bernard if he had accomplished the Herculean tasks demanded.
Yes I agree completely,I just seen its already circulating on YouTube that the Smith offer didn't have a rehydration clause in it & they're greedy ass still turned it down despite Hearn always crying about other fighters turning down generous offers.
Its ludicrous to think fighters with 1/100th the earning potential/resume want to be able to retire off 1 fight just because the cashcow is the opponent despite being offered multiple times the highest payday they've had & besides BJS not holding up his end when he looked shît v his D level opponent & Smith likewise looked sht v ryder.
What nobody seems to be mentioning is that if you look shlt in recent fights you shouldn't get paid as much, its common sense that the more prestigious the name & resume the higher the pay should be
I agree Haney sees if Garcia gets past Linares he'd be more dangerous by then,& Haney himself looked terrible imo his last fight. BUT even though I can't stand Garcia I know its a good matchup now & Haney is still slight favorite imo,but would become underdog if Linares gets chinned by Garcia
they could retire off 4 million. i would take that in a second and flop around on the canvas for canelo and never fight again but i guess i have a different outlook on life and less dignity/pride
Fight now at 135, meet again at welter in a few years. The potential is here for an intriguing rivalry that could span many years but it has to start somewhere.
GBP should make Eddie Hearn overpay if he wants Ryan Garcia as Haney's next opponent.
3 or 4 times Ryan's career high purse won't be enough, just like it wasn't enough for Callum Smith to fight Canelo.
