Following the WBC and IBF welterweight champions crash in October 2019 do you reckon he will ever be the same fighter again?
Trainer Derrick James has said “We’re looking at him, seeing how he react to what we’re working on in the gym. He’s good. His timing is good. Everything’s great. … He’s just like he was. Because now I’m watching him from a different perspective. And I’m looking to see if he’s slower. I don’t see it.”
That was a bad accident and he needed a lot of surgery in his mouth. I doubt he will ever bill 100%, their will be something left from that accident and him saying that he is not going to take a tune up fight is not the best idea IMO.
A couple? It's only gonna take one fight when his opponent hits him flush in the mouth one good time.
Maybe. But I’m assuming they’ll put him in with a couple of soft touches first.
If his trainer is saying he is looking at him differently or with more concern, something happened in the crash, my assumption is a severe concussion (at minimal).
After a rocket hit my base in Fallujah, I was knocked unconscious and shell shocked. For years after, even when Id spar or something hit my head Id get BAD headaches or throw up. Getting a severe concussion is like suffering a heat stroke, they come easier after the 1st.
Not an Errol fan, but he is a Dad and has cute lil girls so I hope he is coming back because he is good to go, not because he wants to prove something to fans or get paid. Head trauma is no laughing matter.
Spence's destiny is to be Meldrick Taylor 2.0. Still keeping F boy company and finding the bottom of the bottle. Wont be long until he cant make 147 and he'll be mixed up with rest of the trash at 154 hiding from Bud.
Nobody is hiding from Bud, they playing keep away from bob.
We'll have to see how he does under live fire.
But Errol is good. I can confirm this. He looks good, he's in very good shape. He's keeping his weight low, like he said post-Porter.
He hopped back in another Lambo already. But he's enjoying life and being very serious about the fight game, like he said he was going to do after the Porter fight.
Very strong, well conditioned, and is carrying zero extra weight. Errol looks ready to go.
Agreed.
Wish he was injured in some other way because it makes car analogies confusing... but it’s like fixing up your wrecked car. Looks new, feels new, then you floor it (push your body to the limit) down the highway and you start to hearing funny sounds coming from the engine. Only time will tell what the situation is.
Yes, and human beings are more complex, because we have minds. No telling what that accident did to Errol’s feelings about himself and his future as a boxer. Might not mean anything at all; but right now, assuming he’s okay just because he seems to be, is just not reliable. We’ll see soon enough.
I think he probably will be as good as ever. His trainer says he is as good as ever. There is no report of any injury from the crash that would keep him from fighting as good as ever. He is a top favorite of mine. DUI is bad and you endanger your own life and the lives of others. Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully he learned from this one and will never drive while drinking again. I hope he never loses a fight and beats Crawford.

Im not trying to compare since these two are levels levels apart but look at verdejo who was fighting way lesser competition but after his motorcycle accident hes looked like hott trash and got kod by a nobody. Errol somehow survived that crash hes lucky to even be alive. It remains to be seen once he starts getting punched in a real fight we will see hownhe and his body react.
Verdejo always sucked and his loss came two years later. Thurman had a car crash, after nursing some spinal/nerve damage was quick to beat Porter then Garcia.
Accidents aren’t comparable, but Errol’s accident was awhile ago, he’s been training for awhile, and if no nerve damage/stiffness has appeared yet, it probably won’t at this point. If he looks like sht moving forward it’s because he’s not fighting Broken, inactive, or fat midgets like Brook, Peterson and Garcia or they took his juice away.

Good comparison.
