Based on some career highlights, we may be able to make some observations concerning Canelo’s possible use of steroids, growth hormone, or other PEDs.
See a video below that is a quick retrospective of Canelo’s career. It does not include the Kovalev fight.

Here are the Kovalev fight highlights.

Here are a few observations. This is not intended to be definitive, or the final word.
1. Canelo appears to take punches better now than he did at super welterweight. See the fight against J. Cotto at 154 - Canelo was very nearly knocked out. Yet Canelo was hit plenty by GGG, and never came close to getting knocked out. Kovalev and Danny Jacob hardly seemed to rattle him. Both fighters hit far harder than Cotto, I’m sure.
2. Canelo’s power is the same, if not increased, at higher weight classes. He knocked people out at 154, and he knocks them out at 160, 168, and 175. This seems very unusual in any fighter.
3. To my eye, Canelo appears at least as lean, if not more lean, at 175 as he was at 154. I leave room for some sort of major overhaul in his diet over the past 7-8 years. Perhaps as a young man he ate foods he was allergic to, or that caused him inflammation. If he is free of those foods, it is conceivable, I suppose, that he was able to put on more muscle with little to no fat. But it would be unusual to say the least. Roy Jones Jr definitely carried a little more fat at HW than he did at SMW and LHW.
Similarly, it is possible that Canelo appears to take and deliver punches better now because he is a better fighter, more elusive, throws from more advantageous angles, etc. He started very young, and grew and improved over time.
I’ll repeat, this I not a definitive answer. Nor can it be completely objective. But there is room for discussion here.
I look forward to your thoughts!
Wow, it has something to think about. I like seeing such interesting experiments, so thanks for starting the topic. It is strange that scientists try to prove something by choosing two people. Random peope. We’re all different and can’t make any suppositions. Our bodies will react the same, and we will feel the same as others. So yeah, that’s strange. I like studying what is better for my body and what helps me to achieve the perfect shape. If you’re interested to know, here’s more info about It https://buyroidscanada.co/.

PEDs should be allowed to give an even playing feild to those hesitant to take them due to fear of failing a drug test, and give us the best fights possible, due to athletes reaching a level they cant reach without PEDs/ low dosages.
Khan was at 155 pounds and he gets knocked out all the time. Fielding had already been stopped and was very, very clearly outmatched.
Kovalev is tricky because clearly it WASNT Canelos power as he couldnt seriously hurt Jacobs or GGG in 36 rounds. The KO was absolutely real though. There are speculations that Kovalev threw the fight, but the actual KO was definitely real.
My best guess Kovalev was over-trained. Nothing was right from the first round. Jab was fluid and not stiff and he hardly threw any rights with pop. He just didnt look like himself and was overly cautious defensively. Maybe he was hurt during sparring?? I dont know and I'm a Canelo fan...that fight was just off though. Not to take anything away from Canelo, but I think the result had more to do with Kovalev being overtrained, hurt in sparring, or just shot than it did Canelo being great.
So Canelos power has not increased at all in his career. Hes never been a 1 punch KO guy except when strategically matched against chinny fighters (Khan and Kirkland), but his power is demonstrated in accumulation via late stoppages (Kovalev, Angulo, Liam Smith)
I don’t know - Canelo’s fist smashed into Kovalev’s face, he was concussed and went down on his keyster. I mean, Andre Ward spent most of his career at SMW and LHW, and his stoppage of Kovalev was not as decisive.
I’m just saying it’s worth discussing. I can’t see in Canelo’s body or his camp. But it’s weird for a guy to hold his power over that much weight gain.
Not sure I understand - Canelo knocked out Khan, Fielding, and Kovalev. That was at middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight, respectively.

Canelo hasn't KOd anyone since JMW...what are you talking about?

If Mayweather has done what Pacquiao did, and move upright weight classes, while remaining shredded with good power, I’d be suspicious of him too. But that didn’t happen. Mayweather’s ceiling was clearly welterweight, and he stopped knocking people out at that weight, other than Rickey Hatton, who practically begged for it.

No fat at all?
So Floyd, Manny, Bradley, Klitschko, JMM, Sexy Sergio, and every other fighter with no fat at all must be JUICED TO THE GILLS.

- -U mean U Blind eye crossed with the one U can't see with?
Why U on steroids?
I saw no fat at all...Canelo was a ripped 175 pounds.
I can buy that he takes punches better at 28 than at 19. But I’m not sure that applies while going up 3-4 weight classes. I mean, Kovalev hits so much harder than any super welterweight. Ditto GGG and Danny Jacobs.
Canelo, drugs or no drugs, is an excellent boxer. But this is worth discussing.

No boxer is beyond clean IMHO, I would never sit here and defend any boxer in that terms. Especially when you have been caught with drugs or failed a test.
canelo has never popped positive for banned substances
oh wait....he has :lol1:
now he has a good team that does his dirty laundry more carefully and effectively if you know what i mean
personally, i think he's still a cheat!
Well when you fail a drug test these things tend to linger over your head. Ironically, where were all these defenders when pacquaio was being accused despite never failing a single test..homerism is a muggafugga. Called out Someone in this thread about that shhh and he acted like I was making things up, yet here he is..front and center lol. Can’t make this shh up.
When he fought Kovalev you could see a bit of fat around his middle. He was not all that lean and he is not a full sized light heavyweight.

I look forward to your thoughts!I disagree with a lot of what you just said. When Canelo was hurt by Cotto he was a teenager and the fight was at 147 not 154. He was not nearly KOed and he never went down and quickly turned the fight around into a KO win for himself. Nobody has badly hurt Canelo since then. As he grew into 154 and 160 his chin got better than ever. There is nothing really unusual about a man taking punches better than when he was a teenager. Canelo was NOT leaner at 175 than he was at 154. You are just wrong on that. When he fought at 154 and even later when he fought GGG he was always very lean without any extra fat. When he fought Kovalev you could see a bit of fat around his middle. He was not all that lean and he is not a full sized light heavyweight. Canelo is 29 years old and his growing days are over. He has outgrown 160 and I am sure we will never see him fight at 160 again. He will not grow into a full light heavyweight either and his fight at 175 was for old Kovalev only. We won't see him fight at 175 again and quickly vacated his 175 pound title. That means Canelo is now a natural perfect 168 pound boxer and that is the weight all his future fights will be at in my opinion. I am sure his next fight will be with Billy Joe Saunders who has not looked very good at all since his last good fight against Lemieux over 2 years ago. Unless Saunders can regain the speed, skill and stamina he showed in the Lemieux fight I think he has no chance to beat Canelo and will probably get KOed. Saunders has neither the punch to hurt Canelo or the skill to out point him.
