That body size and physique can be overcome with skill and will. I really fell in love with boxing when I caught the end of an undercard for Mayweather vs Hatton , there was this indomitable looking dude fighting and had just won a lob sided decision. His name was Jeff Lacey and he looked absolutely shredded, I couldn't imagine how anybody could beat that. I youtubed jeff lacey loss and this then led me to some skinny looking dude called Joe Calzaghe. I'd heard of this guy from the radio but for some reason never followed him. At the time I was just a very casual fan, only dipping into the mega fights. (being raised on lewis, hamed etc)
When I watched the fight, I was absolutely transfixed. I couldn't believe this lanky looking guy was putting such a 1 sided beating on this superhero looking dude. From there, I researched all of Calzaghe's fights, then all of Mayweather's (after his beat down of Hatton) and so started my love of the sport :D Been reading about it everyday sinceI remember that fight Hatton v Mayweather. First one I stayed up for late at night and loved it.
I think though the more you have to your repertoire the better fighter you will be .Hence someone that has all the assets mental and physical and is prepared to sacrifice creates a megastar eg Floyd Mayweather.
On the subject of Calzaghe yes I remember that fight against Lacy.Apparently his team primed his body to fight against a muscular fighter and at the time Lacy was meant to be the next best thing.

I'm with this type of thinking on why I enjoy fighting sports in general. It's the first & most naturalistic sport there is in my estimation. Boxing just happens to be my favorite fighting sport, but I enjoy all fighting sports for this reason from boxing to MMA to kickboxing to BKFC to even the milder arguably combat sport of sumo.Yes as a child football was my favourite sport. This was most likely influenced by the media and the enjoyment of the game when your a child playing with your friends in school and outside. However as I got older I realised football for what it was a huge business .The best players always will go where the money is.As I got older and studied philosophy/religion/science and tried to understand what life was all about in large part due to seeing some serious suffering to friends of mine who sadly died in agony when young due to childhood illness and also stuff that happened to me I became in love more and more with boxing and football fell by the wayside.
Hence boxing goes right to the very heart of evolution eg survival of the fittest.
The competition, the violence, but mostly how boxing is like a metaphor for the way we live our lives. The unknown , the twists and turns in the ring just like they happen in real life. Boxing feels so real compared to other sports.
I’ll start. My family gets together to watch it. It’s a nice thing we all like to follow. How about you guys?
The history of all sports I watched it has the deepest history with some of the greatest moments in sports ever.
There's a theater of the absurd quality to boxing that I find engrossing. Joyce Carol Oates wrote in "On Boxing" that the sport creates greatness, but also consumes its own greatness. And that is something I find fascinating - two fighters who have just spent grueling months getting into their physical peaks, and then in the course of an hour, are so decimated they can barely stand. That is raw, so deeply emotional to me. I can't take my eyes off it.

i love a big world heavyweight championship fight where you don't know who is going to win. two warriors fighting to determine who the king of our planet is. gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. ever since tyson-spinks when i was 5 years old, i've been completely obsessed with that feeling that you only get when you're about to find out who the champion of earth is.
What’s your favorite comeback fight!?
Comeback as in someones losing a fight and then ends up winning or someone who has lost/retired before and fights to get themselves back in contention?

Yes same here. I started watching boxing in 90s with my father.
He was a big Oscar and Tyson fan. Good memories.
Well i like to watch it with my pops whenever we can. Also going to fights when there's one in town.
But boxing itself i like the underdog showing grit and heart even in a losing effort. A few examples are inoue-donaire and valdez-lopez. The latter of which was a last minute substitute and moving up in weight. Also valdez coach is all bad for him
:lol1::lol1:
Amen bro , I agree.
Good input, highly anticipated fights are just as good in the buildup and speculation sometimes as they are in the ring. What was your FOTY pick for 2019?
**** man that's tough . I know iam missing something but off the top off my head donaire ioune , iam a big donaire fan so to he him have that showing in a foty candidate was surreal . I'll be back tho I know iam forgetting something . Williams huard was some high class action too
What’s your favorite comeback fight!?
I hate Charlos, but Jermell came from deep behind on my cards to stop Harrison. Great comeback for me.
Strong comeback by AJ also against Ruiz

Inoue v Donaire was 2019 FOTY and no other option came close
This Current ERA? Not Much! Too much Politics, too Divided, too much negativity from Writers and Fans
Boxing has the most B#TCHY Fans, all people do is complain, a bunch of miserable F#CKS
I do like the mentality and the potential of the next generation (Shakur Stevenson, Vergil Ortiz, Jaron Ennis, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Chris Colbert...)and I think they can make this sport great again. I see a different mentality in those young men compared to the guys who are on top right now whom when asked about fighting other top guys in their Division they all seem so reluctant and don't want to say guys names and all that petty MALE DIVA BS
Need more boxers with a "Anytime Anywhere" mentality, everybody can't Mayweather, everybody can't be the A Side
All true. I'm biased to chess players...counter-punchers, feints, traps...its beautiful violence

I totally understand the criticism of top fighters being businessmen first and fighters second. I do respect their decision to do so but it does make it far less interesting to say the least. Makes me lose hope sometimes
Watching a fight where I truly dont know who is going to win . When those ring walks start and the crowd gets going I get goosebumps . No other sport does that for me . Then the intensity of each round not knowing what's going to happen. ANYTHING can happen. It's the circus of the unknown and that Is appealing to anyone . Punching in the face , knockouts, and the sweet science is just a bonus haha
