Some things in boxing never change. That would be the business side to it. Whether it's 1920 or 2020 journeyman and greats alike are steered by handlers who will take liberties on when and who to fight. Ali's first order of business was never Ken Norton even though he gave him the most difficulty. But the difference and harmful precedent that has taken root is an era now where not only will "the greats" like Ali avoid the Ken Nortons, but they will flat out not face the current best in their division. I don't think he talks much against Floyd anymore (and for good reason) but look no further than to Ray Leonard as to why Floyd became the fighter he became. SRL played games and waited out Hagler for no good reason other than he felt he couldn't win. Boxing has regressed because the sport took a major loss when Floyd and Pacquiao didn't fight when they should have. ATGs blame Floyd because he displays himself as the mr. Independant, free agent and was publicly not in pursuit of making it happen.
Yep basically this.
Floyd hurt the sport of boxing for his own personal gain.
That’s why he’s not entirely respected by ATG boxers.
I agree, the ATG's that were named, fought to see who was better and nowadays it's more about money, but that's any fighter now, it's all about promoters and dollars being made.
This is so misguided and held by many, the significance of bouts today is lost in the world of mass media, back in the day it was totally different with only main stream coverage of a very select few fighters that were the best of their time, nobody else was known other than the main guys, they were made larger than life , the reality is they also had ordinary fights and quite a few ordinary opponents and some off which they lost too.
Today we still have super fights and some fighters do fight the top guys , the game is different where a great can be lost in space because of mass media.
Fans have a very hype molded sense of greatness making it so that greatness can be in front of their faces and they dont even know it.

It comes down to the money he made. They all wish they could have made the money floyd did and there will come a time when a boxer will make more than floyd and floyd will hate on him for the same reasons. It’s a cycle.
For example basketball players from the 80’s and 90’s hate on today’s players because they make so much more money than they did.
Nah, it’s probably because he beats women. Just like he beat his baby mama Josie Harris in front of his own children. His son testified against him in court.

Probably because most of the ATGs sought out tough challenges throughout their careers whereas Mayweather avoided them in the second half of his career.
Why ppl say Floyd is great because he gamed the system is beyond me. That's the same thing as saying he cheated the system with loopholes or corruption. Other fighters get turned off because he breaks contractual agreements and makes demands over his opponents. Things like picking his opponents glove type close to the fight, coming in overweight, bringing in shady drug testing agency over NSAC's own company, etc. I can understand a fighters reasons for making demands to protect himself but don't look like a hypocrite when you break the rules yourself with coming in overweight and getting caught using a masking agent before the fight.
He beat the system. Let me break it down for you. In a truly brutal sport he maintained his health while beating all his opponents on the highest level of the sport.
In a sport where the fighters are exploited, he did the exploiting. He got paid, he got people paid, the PBC was founded on his labor. The PBC has enabled rivals and friends to better their situation.
Despite the support of the boxing media he was able to make the most money in sports.
In short, he was dominant in ring, out of ring and maintained his health. That is the goal of EVERY boxer
Every all time great dislikes Floyd. You name ‘em.
Ali, Holyfield, Tyson, JCC, ODLH, etc.
Why is that?
They're doing to Floyd what Mayweather did 2 Wilder that called MoneyMay a hater & complained PBF never lets a brother shine
I would support him beating a bitch like you. You dumbass clown.
Haha this guys mad!!
You support women beaters!!
You poosay! Disgrace of a man!
You woman beating chump!
Real man would whoop your poosay arse!

- -Hes never been liked by anyone who could really fight.
Needed his security team just to whoop his baby mama in front of his kids.
No real man would ever lift a finger against a woman much less traumatize his kids.

Because Floyd is in it for himself. Being the highest paid athlete who liberally boasts about wealth and TBE status doesn't mix well when said fighter uses a runaway style against people he aged out

Floyd’s best win is beating up women.
You support that? You damn coward.
this, though its important to point out that not supporting marital abusers like may and calzaghe is independent to our appraisal of their boxing ability.
He beat more past and current champions than anyone in boxing history. He retired undefeated. Floyd made his biggest fights look easy. And he made more money than all of his haters combined. Jealousy and envy is why they hate him. Plus some might be fanboys of fighters he beat easy. We see the #48ers delusional hatred for Floyd.

I think Floyd is a great fighter BUT definitely maneuvered safely through his division. He also probably pisses the ATG cause he thinks hes the greatest and we all know that isnt reality.
Tyson and De La Hoya have called Floyd an all time great. Tyson even went as far as saying that if he and FLoyd were the same size Floyd would beat him. Obviously you haven't done enough research on this topic and you're simply looking for people to reinforce your negative opinion of Floyd.
Floyd Mayweather doesn’t care about black people.
Smh... U just lost all credibility as a boxing fan bringing up TI lmao wow
Lol I know I was pretty hurt for boxing as well when I heard TI whooped Floyd’s arse. Over some ugly broad at that.
Tsk tsk.
They’re not speaking on his character. They just don’t recognize him when they speak of all time greats. Because he wasn’t great. That simple.

- -TUE 51-0 too shameless to ever be embarrassed.
Manny PPV years before him and he took short $$$ vs Gatti and Oscar and then killed that rematch in the middle of promotions that Manny took to salvage.
Haymon and Schaefer took him to the stratosphere, not his business acumen. How many millions has he paid out in legal settlements?
When Arum took him to michigan for a hometown showcasing, nobody showed up if you want to talk about embarrasing!!!
This is the nonsense you haters come up with. If it's that easy, have Schaeffer and Haymon done that with another boxer? Has any other boxer made the money Floyd has?
Oscar tried to be the A side after a loss. Floyd knew his worth said no. Retire came back and the rest is history.
Arum took him back to Michigan to fight Carlos Rios. There were 12,696 in attendance. Stop your lies!!!
