I know I’m late but just saw he was going to probably fight Pulev next.
Why not Ruiz III? Why not wait out the Fury Wilder winner?
Nobody wants to see him available those Euro frauds he’s used to fighting. Smh

I don't know anyone who was saying that the rematch was a mistake, AJ was still heavily favored in the rematch, regardless, I feel like the guy gave you a rematch when you were KO'd return the favor.
I get where you're coming from, and I believe AJ had a rematch clause for the first fight if I'm not mistaken so Joshua-Ruiz 2 was gonna happen regardless. In the meantime AJ has mandatories to fulfill, and then hopefully a showdown with the Wilder-Fury 2 (or 3) winner. While Joshua is busy doing that, Andy can kick off his "trilogy" campaign by looking good when he comes back.
I would agree with you if the rematch hadn't happened yet but it did and there was a HUGE demand for it. Joshua could have elected to fight a "euro bum" but instead he jumped right back in with Ruiz, even when many people thought it was a mistake. If Andy had been more competitive then I imagine the 3rd fight would be happening next but he laid an egg. Now he has to come back better if he wants another opportunity.

Maybe it's just me, but that's the problem with boxing right now, anyone can say "well there is no demand for this fight right now" when he KO'd you last fight, just sounds like more of a cop out to me.

I don't think anyone would mind seeing a 3rd fight. I just don't think it's warranted right now. AJ himself said that he could see himself fighting Ruiz again down the road but Andy has to get back on track. If he (Ruiz) comes back and wins a fight or two impressively against a top 10-15 guy then I think you will see the demand grow for Joshua-Ruiz 3.

Then wouldn't that warrant a 3rd fight? I just can't see why AJ fans are so against a 3rd fight.

AJ vs Pulev is a decent fight. As far as HW fighters go to today, Pulev is legit top 10.
The only major fights available to AJ now, are Wilder and Fury. Those fights won't happen soon so might as well stay busy with some top 10 comp.
Exactly my thoughts. It isn't a dream fight, but it is a solid fight.
His average level of opposition is much better than Fury or Wilders even with him turning pro years later than both. He has the least padded record of the 3, easily. Wilders record is by far the most padded. 40+ fights with two top 10 level opponents on there.
Sure, that's a fair point.
Fury & Wilder have faced each other though.
Joshua has lost already and not fought the very best in the division.
His best win was a 40 year old Klit.

Joshua's resume is padded, but he will always be questioned until he fights Wilder / Fury.
It's justifiable criticism IMO, clearly the majority of his opponents are carefully picked by Hearn.
a padded record with carefully picked opponents
youre just describing every high level boxer

It would be fair to say that Joshua was 100% for the first fight and he lost. It's boxing and it happens. Other people tried to make excuses for him but I don't recall hearing AJ make any for himself. As for Andy Ruiz Jr., he was less than 100% for the rematch due to his own poor choices. He apparently thought that he was SO much better than Joshua that he could bring less than his best and still win. That was his fault and his fault alone, which he acknowledged after the fight.
Then wouldn't that warrant a 3rd fight? I just can't see why AJ fans are so against a 3rd fight.
If you take a good look you'll find that most of the best porspects are europeans (Yoka, Dubois, Joyce, Makhmudov, Nistor, ...). Oh and sorry to say that but Joshua is european (far for being a bum), Fury too, Usyk is a real monster and is european.
I don't think Ruiz deserves an immediate rematch. He blew up his chance to keep the belts and multiply his wealth. AJ did his homework and Ruiz did not. Move on

There were many excuses, regardless of that, one can argue that AJ came in to the first fight 100% and so did Ruiz and Ruiz KO'd him. If there was no excuse for AJ in the first fight, would it be fair to say he was 100% because if he was, that would look even worse for him.

...why do people want Joshua to fight Pulev so bad yet when Grabomir did it...
I don’t think anyone “wants” this fight, Pulev is the mandatory..... it’s not like he’s a voluntary defence and Joshua has handpicked him for a defence. He either fights him or vacates he’s belt.
