...you're unwilling to pay for subscriptions and PPVs...
Where else would they recover the investment from other than fans' pockets?
Not me. I don't scream bloody lowball when offers are made.
Most don't. The loud minority do.They're not satisfied seeing their fighters make $1 million. Gotta be five times or more. Don't know the mentality behind it.
I don't get it either.
Networks, promoters end up producing less fights.
Fans are the losers.
It wasn't unsustainable. Revenue went up until it became super easy to steal without basically no fear of consquences.
Yeah the artist adapted by not becoming artists in the first place.
If it was sustainable then it would have been sustained. It got disrupted because it was ripe for disruption. Too high a cost and the consumer based too low a value on it.
I don't think we've got a shortage of artists.
Subscription services prove that people are prepared to pay for things.
What they were charging was unsustainable. Just like boxing PPVs.
The artists adapted. Charge the money for your performances. Plus take steady income from streaming services.
Maybe we'll see steadier income for boxers from subscription channels... and the big spikes in money coming for performing on a card. Maybe then we'll see guys fighting more than once or twice a year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Showtime eventually closes shop.
I wouldn't be surprised either.
Look at Broner, who attracts more flies than Deontay does even at
this stage of his boxing career, yet he's been inactive for a year now.
Garcia vs Garcia was supposed to be made this year.
Mikey got sick of the waiting game and accepted DAZN's offer.
How can they let this guy slip through their fingers?
Answer is the money is not there.

I don't care because I don't get any of their money, some posters on here act like they are getting a percentage of what the fighter earns, all they do is harp on about purses and PPVs, I just want the best to fight the best
Everyone is affected. Showtime can't keep up with the rising cost of making fights, "Deal didn't make sense for us."
Fights that are normally on regular cable are now in PPVs.
Yeah, I remember the days when hbo or showtime would put on a fight like Spence vs Garcia, or Wilder vs fury, but now these suboar fights are ppv fights, because there aren't really big fights anymore.

The industry cratered and it has taken 20 years to match the revenue the industry made at its peak. Adjusted for inflation the music industry is still down a third in revenue from its peak. Throw in that there are less than half of the working musicians today as there was in 2000 and less than half new albums released today than in 2000.
This might be good for the consumer but it is not good for the industry and 99.9 percent of the boxers in the medium to long term.

Always buy fights if you can.
They're risking their lives in that ring.
That position doesnt hold water
If you made a list of the most dangerous occupations, "boxer" wouldn't crack the top 100.
Anyone else not care how much fighters make?
Most don't. The loud minority do.They're not satisfied seeing their fighters make $1 million. Gotta be five times or more. Don't know the mentality behind it.
People used to illegally download music. The industry responded through disruption with apps like Spotify. More people paying less per person.
Who downloads albums to an iPod or burns CDs now?
People will pay if it's easier and reasonably priced. You just can't charge them huge fees for something that they can otherwise get for free with a bit of effort.

The cost for PPV are just too much and the way images are shared is becoming old school. We have gone from cassette players to CD to downloading/streaming, we have gone from been stuck in one place to now watching things on the go. I personally refused to pay for PPV on TV for over 12 years now. The price is just too much IMHO.

when they put together a good card, I'm always willing to pay. But paying $80 for one fight + a bunch of uber driver level fighting is a bit over the edge
