I’d also say he looked weird in the Mike McCallum fight. Went to the ropes and lost early rounds. On the HBO version Lampley and Merchant were saying that was all part of the plan and he wanted to let McCallum go the distance. Foreman was saying he didn’t think Jones wanted to let him finish at all. I thought he showed a potential to let a decision slip away from him the Griffin and McCallum fights. If things had lined up slightly differently and he’d fought a prime Michael Nunn a few years before he came into his prime I think there was a serious chance he would have been outpointed on the judges cards.

I thought Whittaker would be most likely to win on any given day but many of his fights were snoozers. The 90s belonged to Roy Jones and Pernell Whitaker. Oscar was a tremendous fighter but he wasn't deserving of the #1 spot. I give #1 FOTD to Roy Jones and Pernell is a very close second.
