Gamboa did not expose tank davis

Tank is too inactive. He was getting touched up. He gains too much weight between fights, has to have a camp to lose all that weight; another poster said this also.

What you saw was a fighter that is used to stopping fighters smaller than him. Hence the low output and staring down his punches because he expects his opponent to fold from them like before. That maybe true as well so this will/should do him some good! Hopefully this motivates him to get back in the gym sooner than later cuz we know he has the talent and skills it’s just the work ethic needs to catch up dramatically!

He did try a few times but he pushed for a highlight reel KO to the head instead of a bodyshot which still can get in the highlights! Tank is a devastating body puncher, he underestimated Gamboa’s durability, craftiness and didn’t come into the best shape! Tank is a smart fighter, but I think he’s believing too much of his own hype and is allowing the fruits of his labor to takeover the work that he needs to put in the gym! Davis was too stupid to even target the body of a one legged old man. inactivity kills fighters. a fighter in his early 20's should be in the ring 4 times a year. tank wasn't. once in 2018. twice in 2016. hell, in his second year as a pro in '14 the dude only had 3 fights! he lacks consistency in his style and output in part because he's underdeveloped. so when he's not knocking someone around the ring he looks it. i would say that his level of development has been exposed. he's still missing a lot of nuance when his gas tank is low. still going to be a threat when somebody wants to punch with him early. what i worry about long term is the weight. this kid will be at 135 or 140 lbs sooner than later. might even go for a big money fight at 147. his power will look so f#cking ordinary punching a welterweight. and he's about 5'4" tall. Tank has been consistent fighting twice a year, any more than that will burn out his body, come on man give the kid a break!

If a fight shows some flaws in a fighter's skills, then I'd say he's exposed. In this case, whether it was by Gamboa or not, I say Davis was exposed. He definitely seems to be having trouble going 12 rounds and unlike Gamboa, guys like Loma and Lopez aren't going allow him to get his second wind.

When the fight was announced, I knew it would be bad. But it turned out to be even worse than I thought. Davis didn’t show up; and Gamboa was not only even more shot than I recalled, but injured as well. It was painful to watch, really. ... OK... Your guy was already back at 130... but they needed a "strong" showcase for Tank... That's how it goes...

Gamboa is still a live dog in this game, and Davis arguably won every single round even though it was somewhat close. So many posers on this website ready to throw tank under the bus, just give him some time. I agree sometimes guys take longer to stop someone or hell just cruise a 12round decision But how are u exposed when u score multiple knockdowns and win every round? Dudes just be waiting to hate.

... I'll maintain: the Gamboa fight was too an easy contest for Tank... he might have taken more rounds in order to learn things... (actually, Gamboa posed no threat to him, tbh...) Yeah, we’re gonna need to see him versus increasingly stiffer competition. It’s gonna take at least another year, maybe two, before Davis even attempts a shot at the top dogs. After Gamboa, I don’t think Davis’s team is gonna move him up too quickly. You can’t go from that Gamboa performance to fighting Lomachenko in one or two fights. It looked bad when i read your post on reflection of Tank's performance, the fact that Yuri had one leg also kinda made what you said true. I just feel Tank has been mismanaged, maybe he isn't a good as we all thought? Or maybe his team know something that we all knew? I rate him quite highly but am also careful as well not to go overboard, this is why i wanted better competition for him over the last 2 years and his team seems to want to build him up as a "Star" without actually taking on the sort of competition that would make him a "Star". Couldn’t agree more Then we had some poster on this site trying to convince people that if Gamboa wasn’t reduced to a gimp , that Stank would of been able to get him out of there much earlier and easier Talk about being paranoid after watching their boy Stank being really Stanky lol I saw and replied to those posts.
