Wait, I was actually wrong about Davis missing weight 3x. He was over the limit against Hugo Ruiz, too. This means he's come in overweight 4x... If that's what discipline looks like, then I wanna see how many other world level fighters miss weight in 4 fights within 3 years. Instead of trying to convince me on why it isn't an indication of low discipline, you try to invalidate my opinion.
it is an indication of low tolerance to being hungry.. you are correct..
low disipline is kinda linked with genetics.. your opinion.. ok.. my opinion ok... opinions.. ok. we all have them.... i lacked discipline or should have moved up in weight.. i have had iv's to rehydrate.. ketosis and all that.. body caniballizing muscle mass ... being dizzy... yep..
peace man.. now I gotta get on my train, go to work and eat saba bento.. drink miso, eat tofu.. and sit in boring meeting.
obviously you never had to make weight... you live at home with your mom, and you play video games..

Which is very common due to inactivity. The man fights every 20 months or so. That's why it is becoming more and more difficult for him to make weight; No matter what weight division he is in. The man simply needs to fight and stay active in order to stay in shape. What the Hell exactly is Floyd Mayweather doing over there at Floyd Mayweather Promotions? Obviously, he is not doing a good job of promoting his fighters because he doesn't know how. He is fucking Tank's career up man! He's fucking it up!
This is his 3rd fight this year though. 5 months between each.
ex fighter here.. food used to talk to me.. eat me... i would eat and then try to throw up... then i would hear my food saying eat me... crazy... i lacked discipline.. and i could smell food that wasn't there.. crazy.. yes ...
that is why.. they are pros.. and I work a daily job.. i eat.. i am not fat.. not in my genetics.. but i am always hungry..
i am weak.. i cannot even fast for two days..
What's your point?
Beyond the fact that he missed weight despite having just moved up to 135, what really makes this concerning is that this is his 3rd time coming in overweight. It's an indicator of low discipline, which could cost him dearly down the line. It might not hurt him against a guy like Gamboa, but with talent like Loma, Lopez, Haney and Ryan surrounding him, Tank could be steamrolled if he's not on his A-game.

making weight is overrated anyway. always has been. always will be. just fill yourself with iv fluid after the weigh in.
i had a few I Vzzz.. and wow.. i felt like a king.. my cousin raul.. State wrestling champ in Cali.. used to chew ice.. make weight and then eat and drink.. like gatti.. blow blew up.. big.. he can't do it now.. age and bad kidneys..
i had an iv.. and it was great.. post car accident when I got hit. and knocked out....

I have to agree with this.

I dont know wtf Floyds doing, he definitely aint training him in the gym , seems a lot of top guys are getting caught up in promoter BS.
Or he took the fight lightly, or he lacks discipline near the end of camp, Davis is not ripped to the bone or looking dehydrated he has the weight to lose.Which is very common due to inactivity. If a fighter needs 2 to 3 attempts to make weight; Then typically, it signifies that he has outgrown the weight division and needs to find a new one.

He still made weight in my opinion. I dont see a big deal. Your thoughts? If a fighter needs 2 to 3 attempts to make weight; Then typically, it signifies that he has outgrown the weight division and needs to find a new one.

I agree thats why they have the extra time to make weight.
Davis is making a habit of it even as he moves up, gotta be a discipline thing for me, didnt he drop a belt on the scales ?
Good points.
I can't help but think back to Hatton or Duran, both of whom were known to "enjoy life" between fights yet always made weight and I can't honestly can't think of anyone missing weight in their first fight moving up.
I hope he can nail down 135lbs because there are lots of good fights to be made and I think physical dimensions would work against him up at 140.
I’ve said it before he’s going the way of Broner, enjoying life so much to the point he ate himself to being outsized to the point his power was irrelevant against bigger men..just a matter of time til this kid follows the last few steps. His character screams a less vocally cringe worthy version of Broner but his actions are damn near identical
As long as they make weight within a stipulated time, it's all good. Fighters that fail to make weight should be punished and fined.
Problem is he technically didn’t..he had almost a total of four extra hours to make the weight..two hours late to the weigh in and then an extended almost two hour window to make it after..
I hope it’s cool to chime in with my opinion? I’m with you, I think he’s a guy that will always struggle with weight. We can’t see a guy train and eat 24/7 during camp so its hard to speculate why, but we do have precedent. Tank has never really looked shredded at a weigh in. Nobody is ever as lean as they think they are. I’m lean, but it doesn’t mean I’m in cardio shape to even fight a four rounder. So in that same vein Tank a young pro fighter getting paid millions with a whole team behind him, prepared to fight a twelve round fight still can’t make weight, then it will always be an issue for him. I don’t think anyone is really surprised. If he ever shows up peeled and says he’s in his best shape ever and preforms that way, then u know he was doing it wrong prior.
Good points.

I would not be shocked if he actually didn’t make weight and they just let it slide.
The weigh in was unprofessional, even Gamboa just jumped on the weight and then left, they were calling him back to come and take pictures and everything, then they wheeled Williams onto the stage, then Tank was late etc
I know they did that with Chavez Jr on many occasions when he didn’t make weight. They just let it slide like he did. Shady business in boxing. But if Tank really did drop that weigh within an hour then kudos to him, but I doubt it.
I think the weight difference in the ring is usually overplayed as an advantage. But making weight in front of the fans at a huge cost if u fail is was something I admired about boxing. I used to say boxers can lose more on the scale than a main event ufc fighter can earn in their fight. That puts things into perspective. We love to talk about weight because it’s tangible and u can tie it to the history and precedent any fighter has set for themselves. Weight i.e. 160lbs is the same everywhere in the world, and past or present. If making weight was not a substantial and potentially difficult part of the sport then there should be no excuse to not make it. Any fighter coming in heavy and says it’s no big deal is implying a paradox.
