For context, I listen to anything boxing related I can find on my commute to work, the walk to my car, the walk to the store - basically any free moment I have :D
Asides from all the interviews and hype, I listen to 3 fan channels too
HatmanStrikesBack
Dwyer
Boxing Talk With Ade
I very occasionally listen to counterpunch news but his dislike of Wilder is all consuming and a little too brash for my liking.
However in regards to the video, I think it's fairly well balanced. I also think his prediction that Hearn might now try to protect AJ could come to pass. I'd encourage you to give it a full listen before racing to conclusions with it either. I like hatman because he's consistently objective with his views, a boxing historian (HW especially) and clearly loves the sport to death. The only time i've smelt any bias, was his scoring of Yarde vs Kov :D Though he was in a room full of Yarde fans by all accounts
I know people sit very much either side of the fence on this and it's a debate I see raging on and on. I'd like to think both fighters want it and hopefully, providing both guys keep winning - we get to see it!
What about the part when AJ tells fans you train and fight Wilder or the part when AJ saying no one is going to rush him and he will fight Wilder when he is ready for it
Only an idiot thinks Wilder deserves anything close to 50-50. Joshua does not need the big fraud Wilder, Wilder needs the Joshua payday. Wilder is the fake who needs to dare to be great.
All roads lead to AJ. Wilder is just a pretender hoax protected coward fraud who will be exposed by Joshua, Usyk or Whyte
Fury is rigged to carry Wilder and make him look good.
Lol Whyte is garbage
AJ doesn’t need the money sure, but if he cares about legacy or anything, then right now he hasn’t fought any of the top guys. Fury and Wilder have fought each other. Don’t say Wlad, he was old and a Fury leftover. I’m talking about AJ’s current peers.
So yeah AJ doesn’t need the money, but in that sense he doesn’t need to fight at all if he doesn’t want to.
So the reason he must be fighting now is still because he wants to compete, thus he should be competing against the best. In that respect, he needs a Wilder or Fury for his legacy.
There’s a reason he’s asked about them in every interview. It’s not because the interviewers care about AJ’s money. It’s because his legacy will be defined by these kind of fights.
If he cares about legacy, then he might have to go 50-50 to get it done and he’ll still make huge amounts. If he doesn’t care either way then fair enough, but he won’t be considered the top heavyweight without fighting the other top fighters. It just depends what that extra % of the purse is worth to him.
50-50 is a very difficult sell considering the facts, Wilder just generates far less money and interest. However if it comes down to Wilder refusing the undisputed for anything less than 50-50, AJ will need to suck it up or proceed with 3 of the 4 instead. That's not to say it's fair but when somebody has something you want, you have to pay to take it. (that works both ways of course)
I agree.
In theory Wilder doesn’t deserve 50% but sometimes i think in these cases where both fighters stand to make huge money in true mega fights, sometimes it’s best to just go 50-50, not worry about the actual % and just look at what you will earn. But of course, you could say Wilder making 30% v AJ is better than 75% v Ortiz or whatever.
I’d imagine AJ getting 50% v Fury or Wilder will still generate more money than him getting the majority of money v someone like Whyte or Usyk.
So it works two ways, but the fact is i don’t think these fights are getting made until everyone bites the bullet an just goes 50-50, just to get it done.
Also, they can say AJ doesn’t need anyone, but the fact is that he needs Wilder or Fury, because he can’t go anywhere without being asked about it and no fans are going to be satisfied with any opponent apart from them. If he really wants that fight, then he’s going to have to agree to 50-50, fair or not.
70-30 in AJ's favor is fair enough. AJ brings a aold out stadium, 3(really 4) belts and millions of PPV. Wilder's last fight had 7k people watching while on a PPV flop and he only has one belt. This should be fairly easy to see but Wilder fans are fairly stupid so they will say 50-50 hahah. And therein lies the problem

yeah yeah money this money that for whatever reason AJ wont fight neither Fury nor Wilder.
Thankfully at least Wilder and Fury will face each other.
OH and they are the top 2 rated by Ring Magazine
