No surprise! I respect Showtime for continuing to try but it is not looking good for them. Numbers are just rapidly declining it is time to try something else. I think they need to moved to CBS and CBS Sports like how Fox uses Fox and FS1 if they're staying in the Boxing Business
Just posted about how Boxing Overall is not in the best space here in America in another thread and it most certainly not popular enough to make fans hold a Subscription for a Network that really doesn't have much to offer besides showing OLD MOVIES all day and their Original Programming can be seen On Demand instead of people rushing him to watch the show at a specific time
Jermall Charlo Mainevent on Fox did GREAT so he is not the issue. However his choice of opponents and being in mismatches is a issue.
Don't have to sign with DAZN if he doesn't but a One Off Unification with Andrade should happen next. Eddie Hearn said he is open to a One Off and he doesn't have to sign with him, they did it with Jose Ramirez so it can be done for Charlo. Even the Fox Exec guys talked about how Charlo is not with them a the moment but will be back so he is Free to go Broker a deal. Does he want him or is he OK with making good money vs opponents who stand no chance against him. His comments was WEAK about potentially fighting Eubank after that Hogan mismatch.
Stop playing it safe hoping Canelo choose you and lets go with the Andrade Fight! Both are extremely talented! It is not a Super Fight or nothing but a fan Hardcore Boxing Fans want to see
From everything I've heard, DAZN got 600k-700k viewers in the US for Ruiz/AJ II.
Lmao not even close.
Check the ad spend it releases the real numbers as they charge per M.
Viewed by 197k in US after 24 hours.

Plus the sihtload of people who streamed it illegally, nobody streamed the Charlo fight.
That a higher percentage of US subscribers watched Joshua Vs Ruiz II than in the other regions makes sense though.
DAZN in US mainly focuses on boxing and (bellator), whoever subscribes to them does it, because he/she is a combat sports fan.
I cant speak for the other markets, but DAZN in germany has a focus on 1) football (soccer) and 2) a couple american sports like Basketball and Football.
Boxing on DAZN in germany isnt a focus at all.
Yeah if you see my subsequent posts I posted its possible. paulf made a great point that US fans buy dazn for the boxing while other countries likely do it for the other sports.
I haven't read that anywhere. That would mean 75%-87% of US dazn subscribers watched the fight in the US.
Maybe.

. im not sure where you are getting this ten percent are from the usa thing. they are in 9 markets therefore 1/9th are from the usa? it doesnt work that way.
WSJ reported they had just under a million subs in the US last week, I'd take that number as credible, and then 100k+ subscribed in the US for the fight.
But your point is correct.
Id say 750k is bare min possible in the US, more like 800k+. DAZN US isn't like DAZN in other markets, which has diverse sports content and consumers. People are buying DAZN in the US solely for the major boxing events with maybe 10% buying it for Bellator and never watching boxing, so it's realistic to assume 80%+ of subscribers watched the fight.
Japan has over a million subs (per Forbes). DAZN Japan's centerpiece is Japanese baseball leagues, plus the fight was on at 7am in Tokyo. Ain't nobody watched this **** there.
well they said they had 1.2 million when they had 4 million now that they have 8 million they only have 800k. this is why larry was right about numbers :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy
I am only going by what the dazn rep indicated most recently. I will look for the thread.
No there wasn't. the most recent report, like 2-3 weeks ago, from the DAZN rep was 800k. you can check with Earl Hickey aka Young bidness.

It shouldn't be proportional to each countries subscribers. The fight was marketed more heavily in the US.
I know. I was just using the math to estimate. Another poster suggested 600-700k US viewers on the app. That means 75-87% of US subscribers watched the fight. That would mean in the other 8 countries roughly 1.1 mil, or avg 125k per country watched.
Might be right.
there was a report a year ago that they had 1.2 million subs in the usa so i dont know what you are talking about.
jan 2019: That’s brought it more than 4 million subscribers globally, of which around 1.2 million are in the U.S.
if you tease that out and now they have 8 million worldwide, somewhere around 2.4 million would be from the usa if trends held. im not sure where you are getting this ten percent are from the usa thing. they are in 9 markets therefore 1/9th are from the usa? it doesnt work that way.

PBC fan boy reporter Mike Coppinger reported that around 200,000 new subs for Dazn and it was mainly from the US so I don't know where you're getting 200,000 views for the USA in general for the fight. It was more than that. Face it, people are sick of Charlo fighting 154 pound fighters.
I believe I posted the number was terrible. The isawa/Tapales fight was enjoyable but everything else sucked.
No daggum I was going off the report from Markowski that dazn had 1.8 mil streams in the 9 countries its in, for an average of 200k per country.
Possibly the US average is lower given there are fewer US subs than in the other countries. Lets do the math. Dazn has about 8 mil subs worldwide, 800k, or 10% are in the USA. If 1.8 mil watched on dazn, 10%, of that is 180k.
That 200k estimate may be too much.

Is that true? You will be asked to provide sources. That sounds ridiculous. It was not anything special and i was disappointed in Charlo, as a champion, facing a 154 fighter who lost his last fight. But i felt it was a quite watchable card. I dont think i believe those numbers.
Or do i? Im sure it will of peaked higher for the main event.
showtime ratings have been horrible lately(cept wilder) a lot of their fights aren't hitting 500k

Here is the source. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-12-7-2019.html
The peak is not likely much higher because these ratings only cover a 29 minute period instead of the full 2 hour card.

is that how it works? you dont think the US market is bigger than the others? you think they are all equal in viewers? hmmm :birthday:
