Robles just said they didn't think Joshua would stick and move so much.
They thought he would stand and trade.
WTF? Do they know anything about boxing?
Yeah, I feel like Robles is a stand up guy. I don't think he is worried about what he says to keep his job. I think he does not speak badly about his fighter to the mob of press
I imagine one on one he ripped Andy's ass afterwards. There is an article on here with an interview from Andy's matchmaker with Top Rank and he said Ruiz was always easy come easy go fight to fight sometimes seeming like he rather build houses with his dad then box. Has skills but doesn't have the drive to be the best. **** happens and to each their own.
Feel like Robles deserved more respect from Ruiz who could have tried harder.
These were my exact thoughts when I read the thread title. Almost everyone on this forum was predicting that AJ would stick and move and tie up when he was on the inside...and yet these geniuses thought that AJ was going to trade more. Ruiz should forget about "thinking" and he should find a new trainer who actually has a brain. Him and his team have come up with some of the most ridiculous excuses for getting whooped.
To be fair, Robles might just be taking the blame and excuses because he wants to keep his job.
It’s obvious Ruiz has no respect for his trainers. He admitted he didn’t stick to what his trainers wanted. He also arrived in camp months after his trainer wanted him there.
Ruiz lost to Parker and blamed Abel Sanchez too.
Robles has other interviews where he said he expects AJ to move, but now he’s saying otherwise.
I think he’s just trying to take some blame, rather than say Ruiz didn’t listen to a word and didn’t even train how he should.
Pretty bush league.
I’m just a fan that’s watched boxing since I was a kid.
I’ve been saying here for months AJ would come in lighter, not take any risks, and box his way to an easy decision.
Ruiz should fire his whole team if they game planned for something different.
And that's why I'll continue to back Joshua. I don't think you can knock the guy's dedication. That's always going to give him a chance.
I'll reserve similar praise for Wilder, too.
It's amazing how many elite fighters just can't stomach the hard work.
Agreed.
The 3 guys at the top of the division are there for a reason. Well i know Fury went on a 3 year drug binge. But when he’s an active fighter, he’s on it and trains as you need to to be at that level too.
You can be a flash in the pan but can’t sustain it without dedicating yourself for every fight.
Ruiz didn’t have the mentality to sustain it. You don’t mind a guy losing, it’s sport, but to not even train like you need to is inexcusable.
I really think they thought AJ was soft and could just run through him
There’s no substitute for hard work though. AJ got right back in the gym and Ruiz got lazy.
This is top level boxing, you can’t get away with that. Floyd was as talented as it gets, but he still trained ridiculously hard because you can’t operate at world title level if you’re not training hard, no matter what your talent level is.

Robles is stealing a living if he really thought that.
Every idiot on this forum knew exactly how AJ was going to try and fight, but a world class boxing trainer didn’t?

Andy 'issa blessing' Ruiz and his team are ****ing ret@rded man, I thought he came in heavier beacaue the plan was to maul Joshua from the opening bell, but this idiot actually didn't train and binged on fast food.
Guess we could see the writing on the wall when the videos of him partying, eating and buying haciendas surfaced but I thought 'ok he has his 15 minutes of fame, he deserves it, but get to work when the times comes' but nah, Ruiz thought Joshua wouldn't make any adjustments so he's free to munch on tacos instead of train. This is pathetic. I wouldn't want to show my mug to all those presidents and celebrities who were dickriding him after 1st fight ever again if I was him. I'd
Guess this is why he will always be a one hit wonder and Joshua one of this era's best heavies. Ruiz lacks that mentality of the champion Joshua has and always had even after taking an L in the manner he did.

All these months I have heard Ruiz and his team talk about how AJ is looking to move and jab...thats what they kept saying.
They got to stop lying and admit their man got fat and let the money get to his head.
Aj fought his fight.. hahaha okay. yeah he fought his fight alright, he fought like a scared girl. name me one ex great heavyweight champion that fought like a b.itch like that, cause I can't think of one.
Sure he won the fight and got his belts back, hes no great heavyweight that was pathetic

that sounds exactly like Sanchez/Golovkin after the first Canelo fight
yes, crazy
like I said on the other thread... if they were not prepared for that, then they are inept
They thought Joshua was braver than he actually turned out to be.
Do you know how difficult it is to bounce back from a devastating setback?
AJ fought his fight. He was under no obligation to trade.
That wouldn't be brave, that would be stupid.
Brave is making no excuses after the loss, exercising the immediate rematch and then putting yourself through hell in camp to be ready for it.
He's one brave mf.
Well said, took the words out my mouth
Robles just said they didn't think Joshua would stick and move so much.
They thought he would stand and trade.

Not pro boxing at least.
Robles is stealing a living if he really thought that.
