You could argue, and you'd probably be right, that Michael Hunter would have the second best win of any american heavyweight. Do you agree?
#1 Ruiz (win over Joshua)
#2 Hunter (win over Povetkin)
I don't see anyone else with a better win than those two. Do you?
Say what? :lol1:
Povetkin wins:
H. Fury
Hammer
Takam
Price
Duhauapas
Wach
Perez
Chagaev
Byrd
Chambers
Charr
Huck
Rahman
Ortiz wins:
Hammer
Scott
Jennings
Thompson
Povetkin has one decision loss and one KO loss to two higher rated champions than the guy Ortiz lost twice to by KO.
GTFO telling me anything about Ortiz being ranked higher than Povetkin. There's zero comparison between the two.
But Luis "King Kong" Ortiz was a great amateur with a record of 349 wins and just 19 losses! Oh wait, Povetkin was Olympic and World champion, while Ortiz never even qualified for the Olympics and only reached quarter finals in World Championships.
Wilder's wins over Ortiz are better as Ortiz is still ranked higher than Povetkin even after Wilder KOed him twice.

I would have had Povetkin favourite... except you have to think that Hunter's team have seen something in Povetkin to know that time has
really caught up with him.
Like it or not, there's a lot we don't know and this feels like a fight where the matchmakers know a bit more than we do. This is where matchmakers succeed - they pick the right guy at the right time.
Yeah, Povetkin is old and has looked worse every fight for a while now. I honestly thought that Matchroom was thinking it would be a good win on paper for Hughie, but Povetkin wasn’t shot enough to lose to Hughie lol

Maybe so, we'll see. I'm really looking forward to this one too. Seems like a good style match-up.
Maybe so but Hunter is in that top 10 neighborhood and he's a dog, there is no quit in him.
Should be a great fight.
Should be, but I am not sure about Hunter. He is not very experienced in division. .
Povetkin should be a favorite here. Povetkin only lost against Klitschko and Joshua. Hunter must prove he belongs there.
Povetkin still beats any heavyweight under top 10.

Povetkin is old and no longer running on that High-Test fuel. If Hunter can get out of the first few rounds, he'll grind the old man down.

Actually, yes.
But bad news: Povetkin will beat Hunter.

Is it just me that strongly thinks Povetkin will win this? I was really surprised to find out that Hunter is the favourite.

Hunter can box but he doesn't look like a threat to any champion in the division. I'm eager to see how the Povetkin fight plays out before we crown or dismiss him

Agreed.
Much respect for Hunter, depending how hunter does verse Povetkin we will see where Usyk is at as well. If hunter washes through Povetkin better than Joshua, we know Usyk and Hunter are going to be a problem in this division.
They don't like them CWs who are going up to HW division, ex-cruisers have to double the accomplishments to be recognized and to be talked as a real threat, Hunter is doing great so far, he is on the mission, he won't stop till he becomes a HW champ
