My dad is a real boxing fan like I am. My mom loved Muhammad Ali when she was a kid and will sit and watch the huge fights with us, but she's not really a "fan" anymore.
My dad boxed in the Marine Corps world war 2. He was not a great fighter, not even that good but loved the sport. He also loved Joe Louis and later on, along with my mother, loved Ali. I am more a martial artist but incorporate boxing with my own kids.
My dad felt like the skill of the game was the beauty, and not the violence and I feel the same way. I mean we have to accept both, but the interest is in the skills for my family. For my mother it was Ali and his courage that made her watch a fight now and then.
My dad's a boxing fan.
Mom's too busy to care.
Recently found out that my Grandfather ( mom's side ) is a huge boxing fan.
Gotta have a sit down conversation with him and pick his brain.
Well the first boxing match I ever went to was with my dad back in the 80s. He was more than a casual but not hardcore like me.
I think the last time we ever watched a fight together was for Lewis-Vitali. I totally forgot about that fight but my dad was the one who reminded me to watch it.
My parents never were but I had an uncle that was and is a big boxing fan who got me into it.
He would buy a lot of PPV’s in the early 90’s and would invite us over.
I remember a packed house for Tyson/Holyfield 2 and how shocked everyone was.
At his retirement party he got the De La Hoya/Vargas fight. Everyone was hyped for that one.
Both my parents , aunts, uncles, and grandparents love boxing. We all bond over speaking of classic fights from the past, and have debates over the current state of boxing.
My mum is probably a casual. She likes Fury, AJ etc. And she used to like Calzaghe, Hatton etc. She will generally tune into the sky sports cards with the likes of Chisora or Whyte
My dad was a big fan when he was alive and my grandad was a trainer in a local amateur gym.
My mom hates boxing, too violent for the old lady.
My dad loves boxing, he got me into it when I was a kid. Watched a lot of great fights with the old man. Sad to say, he's not nearly as passionate about it as he used to be. He's more of a casual now. Too much politics, titles, networks, best not fighting the best, etc. All that made him lose interest gradually throughout the years. He's too old to keep up with all that.
Yes, both of my parents like boxing, but generally only heavyweight boxing. They watched all of the Tyson fights on HBO in the 80s, which is how I got into boxing as a young child. They would order most of the heavyweight title fights on PPV in the 90s. They still watch, but not as much. My dad is in his 80s now and it's hard for him to stay up late for PPV main events. He did order Wilder vs. Fury and was able to stay awake, but he didn't order Wilder vs. Ortiz II because he was tired.
Just wondering
Mine don't in any form.
Absolutely. Some of my best and earliest memories were sitting in front of a TV screen on a Saturday night, when my parents would pay for a ppv and throw a watch party. They're the ones who got me into the sport, but they're also the ones who let me know how shady the world of boxing can be sometimes.
