Just curious as to what are the estimated ppv buys for Wilder vs Ortiz rematch this past Saturday? The fight cost $75! I do not know why anyone would fork out 75$ plus taxes and fees could be $80.00.
Why would anyone fork out that much cash for a 2nd rate fight? One we already saw before and knowing Ortiz is like 45 yrs old. It is just insane that PBC and FOX asked for $80 for this kind of fight.
So again, does anyone know what the ppv buy #'s were for last Saturday's fight?
It appears to have not done well, whatever that even means, due to no reporters having the slightest idea of the numbers.
Saying that, this was kind of a burner of an event anyway. After Joshua lost, I think Haymon would have rather had Wilder sit or fight someone easy and then go strait to Fury or Joshua-Ruiz winner, but they had an obligation to Ortiz after Haymon convinced him not to fight Joshua.
They likely expected Wilder-Ortiz II to lose money and didn't care, because the next fight is likely going to do gangbusters on PPV.
Considering they were giving away a TON of tickets... not surprised PPV flopped...
Are you sure PPV flopped? ESPN says greater than 300,000 and PBC says more than a million. Both numbers mean the fight at least broke even and perhaps generated a good profit. However, trying to get a definitive number is currently not possible.
Bro, come on, they can always come up with something like it did 300K or more. Real question will then be would you believe it?
Like they always say, it lies in the eye of the beholder.

one mexi can.. i will drive traffic to you.,, i love your name....
8 days and counting. No numbers at all. That means it was so low that it's embarrassing. I'm sure the people at Showtime were like "whew, glad we didn't take the hit on that BS" hahahah

Bro, anyone can create a youtube channel, as another example. Unless it's something about cute puppies, kittens, horses, etc., you can never get 1,000 people to subscribe to your channel for less than a year or something.
And subscribing to a channel is just one click of a button.

Exactly. Fans need to band together and demand sources, evidences how they come up with grossly exaggerated numbers.
Funny part is fanboys can't even accept anything below 200K. Same fanboys who never bought PPVs in their lives.
Like I've been telling you people. The internet is an example where millions of people are online, probably even a billion. You sell a product for $1 a piece, only about less than 20 people would buy it. Everyone wants freebies.
1,000 is a huge, huge number. That's why I don't even believe these silly 100,000, 200,000, 300,000, etc. figures even during the May/Pac era. Schaefer knew this, Espinoza knew this, Haymon knew this. HBO knew this.
So all these figures that are coming out in hundreds of thousands are all fantasies. They're designed to mislead people.

High time for fans to be skeptical of any number that comes out ranging from 50K - 100K.
$100 Canadian for only one fight is hard to shell out for most people nowadays. It's almost the price of a refurbished laptop that you can use for many years.

So you're saying Mayweather/Pacquiao only sold like 200,000?
No, I was referring to their respective fights prior like May/Ortiz, Pac/Rios, May/Berto, etc.
May/Pac, there will never be anything like it in our lifetime. Pac and May will still do good numbers individually.
It's in the red that's for sure. They had to match DAZN's guarantee to Wilder hoping to make up for it with the Fury fight. Espinoza is happy he didn't put it on Showtime PPV but let FOX take the loss. They had the option to grab it.
Fox/PBC giving away huge guarantees for 2 fighters. If they're true there has to be reason for this. Your guess is as good as mine.
Stupid Hearn will come back offering massive amounts of money. Then the lowball cries begin. Rinse and repeat.

With the fight purses being 20m for Wilder and 7m for Ortiz, they would need around 700k buys just to cover those alone. That doesn't cover the undercard fighter's purses.
That's before sponsor's, gate and international rights. As a ballpark figure we'll go with that all being 5m. That would still mean the PPV buys would need to be around 580k with the PPV provider getting their cut.
Its obvious the numbers didnt do good.
No one will over pay wilder is his next fight. Everybody knows he can't draw shyyte, he was never a ppv fighter thou.

Well this was his second fight since turning down 100m from DAZN, he has to hope Fury doesn’t duck him again. Even if that fight sells a million buys, he wouldn’t have made 100m from three fights.
He has to be the dumbest boxer in history. If I was him, I would fire all the members of my team after the Fury fight, organise a meeting with the head of DAZN or ESPN and see what I can get at age 35/36 as a free agent.
This is why I would always respect Mayweather, with the little education that he has, he learn along the way, from when he was with James Prince to Arum to Haymon to doing things by himself.
He made sure his last 6 fights was for a mega deal. His only loyalty was to money. Not to any network or any promoter.
How Wilder and Ortiz were brainwashed to duck Joshua is something I would never understand.
