I was never big on callum smith or any of the smith brothers. They are all very limited. Callum smith is a british-level boxer who happened to beat groves when groves is worn out, and his previous wins were against lesser competitions where he was noticeably bigger and taller than them. I have always believed that guys like david benavidez, canelo and caleb plant would beat him and hurt him bad.
I liked how the judges said Smith was up by 2 rounds or something in the 10th and Ryder won all the championship rounds IMO and they still said they had Smith up by 2 at the end. Might be recalling wrong but either way it was ****ed
- -Gotta win more than a couple champ rds...Duh!!!
Smith won but looked like crap. At least Canelo is gonna want to jump on him now.. maybe..
Im a fan of smith but while watching him fight, i kept thinking what canelo would do to him if he fought this way.
He is still a work in progress and nobody can look great in every fight.
Did you really give him 7 rounds or are you saying he got the official win..just curious what rounds you had for him if so
The body size and upper body movement are about all the similarities they have. Canelo is still about an in shorter and has an inch and a half shorter reach. I didn't catch the final punch stats from Smith/ Ryder but I can't see Canelo adapting that kind of style. Canelo doesn't lean on guys when they're on the ropes and throw multiple punch combinations, which Smith was unable to deal with. Smith doesn't utilize his length and well as he should and Canelo will definitely get inside and do his work, but it will be different than what Ryder did. Still, I would favor Canelo, yet Alvarez might be textbook enough for Smith to have an "easier" time dealing with than Ryder.
Yeah for whatever reason Canelo is punching pretty strong right now...I think he probably hits a bit harder than Ryder right now, and is probably better/quicker with the counters...but yeah styles make fights so who knows how it would go.
Problem is Smith looked bad tonight imo so it kind of takes the shine off of getting a win vs him now.
I think they actually are somewhat similar...body wise and upper body movement...Ryder seems a bit more punishing/bullying than Canelo...and obviously is left-handed which makes them completely different in many ways too.

I would favor Canelo against Smith, but as I mentioned to someone else, why do you Canelo fans think just because Ryder did as well as he did, that Canelo automatically beats Smith? Ryder and Alvarez literally fight nothing alike.

12 for Ryder as well...yeah I just can't see 6 or 7 rounds for Smith here...at least 5 clear rounds for Ryder imo and 0 for Smith...and even giving Smith 4 of the remaining 6 (round 12 was pretty clear for Ryder imo as well)...that is 8-4 Ryder.
Definite 'robbery' but Ryder looks good...bad matchup for Smith but looks like he was 'exposed' a bit too.

edged rounds 9 and 10 to Ryder...for the same reasons I gave 1-3 for Smith...I think he is landing the better/cleaner shots, doing more damage too...6-4 Ryder...4 clear rounds for Ryder...4 close rounds for Smith...2 close rounds for Ryder...6-4 seems about right now...can't really see 5 rounds right now for Mundo, 7 (through 10 rounds) seems a bit favorable to Ryder as the 'challenger' but it is possible I think
If it wasn't a clear robbery it would be debated.
Does anybody at all think Mundo won?
Let's see, his mom, dad and almost all of his family (a couple of sisters thought he lost).
Round 6 edged to Smith again...round 7 clear for Ryder...4-3 Smith for me through 7...all of his rounds were close though...and all of Ryder's clear imo
