Wilder/Ortiz was a lot closer than most people thought it would be and Ortiz rocked Wilder in the seventh. Check out my preview of the rematch this Saturday.
Absolutely, do people actually think Wilder will all of a sudden out box him and win majority of the rounds? As long as Ortiz is standing, he's going to win his fair share of rounds. Just has better boxing fundamentals and will win rounds off his IQ and technique. Of course, Wilder will just try to jab his way through the early rounds until he is able to land his bomb. And when he does land, we shall see how Ortiz takes it. Was taking some shots well last fight until the end.
Guess he couldn't take Wilder's shot, but definitely won majority of the rounds, if not all of them before the KO.
For those that weren't giving Ortiz any shot were crazy. He was always going to win most of the rounds. Just had one slip up and that's all it took.
I hope Ortiz can avoid a big punch and pull this one off. He almost had Wilder last time but ran out of gas. Didn't help the commission gave Wilder an extra 20 seconds or so after round 7.
He has no chance and will not last very long. Mark my words. Losing weight and the fact that Wilder already figured him out before will not bode well for Ortiz at all. Wilder KO2> Ortiz
Of course he has a shot at the upset. Look at heavyweight history; there are more big upsets in this division than any other. However, we also know that Wilder will likely have the benefit of the doubt from the judges, and he is also very likely to knock out Ortiz. I want Ortiz to win but give him only about an 11 or 12 percent chance.
I think Wilder has the advantage either way. I think he can stop Ortiz with one shot, while Luis needs to overwhelm him. Both men have solid chins. But the longer the fight goes, regardless of Ortiz’s conditioning, the more his chances grow dimmer.
Yeah and Wilder was legitimately sick in the 1st fight.
The Fury knockdown and Breazeale KO have the attention of the masses.
Beating Ortiz behind that thudding jab, hopefully, he can have another highlight reel KO.
And Ortiz gives any heavyweight hell.
I also think Wilder learned to relax a bit more after the Fury fight.
The fight was more so Wilder losing rounds than Fury dominating them.
my guess is that he's about 45 years old. could be 50.
again there's no reason whatsoever for yoel romero to call the guy out for being older than he is. this keeps happening. there have been rumors about his age for years. he's probably older than you think he is. and 45-46 is a hell of a lot more significant than 39-40.
this is a trash pay per view. FFS look at the undercard. nobody seems to be defending the pay per view, just saying the first fight was exciting and completely ignoring the undercard.
What about the UC? The Co-main is trash, definitely wouldn't call Figueora/Ceja or Nery/Rodriguez trash.
Okay, so now he is 45 years old. You originally responded to my post saying he is 50 years old now.....Alrighty then.
Exactly! People rag on how sloppy he looks and there's alot of truth to it. But he can get away with it because of his god given attributes, including his tall frame
He’s like a gigantic Prince Nazeem. Lol Only rare boxers can fight like that. And, as with Nazeem, it’ll take a high-caliber fighter with textbook skills to overcome the freak, unorthodox ability. Ortiz looked like he might’ve been that guy, more or less.
Wilder is a specimen. I remember noting a few years ago how he’s just all fast-twitch muscle. His athleticism allows him that unorthodox style. Watching him in slow motion you get to appreciate how fast his reaction time is. And 6’7”? Shiiit...

He does, he's a skilled southpaw with big power himself. But Wilder is just a freak of nature imo massive puncher, great stamina, fast hands. I wouldnt be shocked if ortiz gets the W but Wilder should take this. He's dangerous at any point of the fight.

It's funny because I feel this time that Wilder needs to get him out earlier.
I see Ortiz training for a late stoppage which I think is a mistake

He took Wilder’s power about as well as anyone, early on. But when you’ve gone 9+ rounds, it’s tough to stay on your feet eating them bombs. Ortiz looked like he went down in the tenth just as much from exhaustion as from the force of the blows. He has to get to Deontay early. The longer the fight goes, the less likely we see an upset.

So we went from him being 50 years old to being a "few years older" than his claimed age? Which one is it? That's a huge difference right there.
Once again, if he is 50 years old, that would mean he was 33 years old or around that age during the 2002 Cuba games. Um yeah, about that..........

The ones that say he is 50 years old.
He was in the 2002 Cuba games. His age ties out. If you think he is a year older than his reported age? Sure, but to say he is 50 years old? Laughable.
Yeah, I don’t believe he’s 50, or even close. I tend to believe Romero, maybe 42 or 43, assuming he’s right to begin with. I mean, it’s tough to see a couple of years difference at that age. I’m over fifty myself, many of my friends are over fifty, and I can tell you Luis doesn’t look that age.
dude these people dont know each other or have a unified purpose for making things up. yoel romero isn't even in the same sport!
it's just a fact that there is a preponderance of claims that ortiz is older than he says he is. it's entirely possible and at this point it seems quite likely that he's, at the very least, a few years older than he claims to be.
